Re: GOP Primaries/Caucuses Discussions, Jokes and Prediction
Good thing I'm neither conservative, nor in the conservative movement. Also a good thing that I don't care what conservatives want, because most of what they want is rubbish.
"He didn’t abruptly become reckless, obnoxious, ill-informed, erratic, hot-tempered, pathologically dishonest, narcissistic, crude and catastrophically unqualified for the presidency overnight." No, but neither did Ted Cruz become an ill-informed, hot tempered, generally disliked, lying narcissist with a dominionist bent who believes that the US would be better off as a Christian theocracy and whose great claim to defending American individual rights is taking the side of the State of Texas in a case wherein he argued that the government should be allowed to sponsor and erect monuments to the 10 Commandments on courthouse and state building grounds.
Fuck Ted Cruz, and fuck the "conservative movement."
And, Hillary Clinton? When did she become the lying narcissistic, Machiavellian opportunist that she is today? When she wrote emails as head of the state department advocating for destablilization in the middle east because she though our position would be helped by sectarian violence? How about when she maneuvred to make sure we rejected the Qaddafi family's overtures to have the US help transition Libya to a democratic system, and instead preferred a sustained military action? What about her being in the pocket of Wall Street?
Are these people supposed to be viable alternatives? Are they less lying and narcissistic than Trump? Do they hide their crudeness? Sure. But, let's not pretend that Hillary did not go out and try to silence "bimbo eruptions" when her husband's dalliances (and alleged rapes) were publicized. How is that for her "comments regarding women?"
Here is the "conservative movement" missing the entire point - again -- still: "and you denied it and ignored it and hand-waved it away and made excuses every step of the way because you were convinced that you were so much smarter than the rest of us." No -- people aren't supporting Trump because they think he's a good, honest, upstanding, non-opportunist, non-narcissist, who never says something untrue and always knows better. They support Trump because the fucking scumbags that get elected time-after-time are also dishonest, self-serving scumbags who PRETEND NOT TO BE THAT. Trump says thing like "yes, I of course contributed to both Democrats and Republicans - tons of money - because it buys you influence and helps you get what you want..." He doesn't pretend to be anything he's note - he doesn't pretend to be couth, because he is uncouth and crude. He knows it. Everyone knows it.
To sit there and cry about how Trump supporters thought they knew better and that now we see Trump's colors, which were the same all along, misses the point entirely. The point is that the establishment politicians have been in this little club for so long, and they've been controlling who gets nominations and who gets elected. They're all scumbags, liars and narcissists, with few, if any, real exceptions. They are pissed off, not because Trump is also a scumbag, liar and narcissist. They are pissed off because Trump is a liar, scumbag narcissist WHO THEY DO NOT CONTROL.
They spout horseshit about how "Trump might start a war! He's a loose cannon!" Really? But, Hillary won't? Hillary Clinton? A warmonger who supported every conflict since Vietnam that the US has been involved in, who supports tactical battlefield nukes, and has supported every drone operation for the last 15 years. She spearheaded the Libyan War. Who is going to start a war again?
That's the thing -- the analysis is not that Trump is a loose cannon or a narcissist. The argument is that, if he is those things, then he's - at worst - no better than the usual scumbag establishment candidates that get elected. But, we -- the people -- will take him because if all those establishment "conservative movement" douchebags hate him, then he's probably worth a good look. Anyone they hate may well be on to something.
You want to offer up a hit piece by some "conservative movement" guy to say that we need to elect a "conservative movement" candidate to protect us, and to do what's best for us? Because the "conservative movement" has our best interests at heart? Can I laugh heartily, yet?
Oh, yeah -- we can't elect Trump, because he's a lying, scumbag and is ignorant on a bunch of issues..... perish the thought of every electing someone that fits that description....
Look at how Gingrish is described - "Gee, thank you, turncoat former insider, for this shocking bit of secret intelligence." Yes! If you're no longer an insider, you're a "turncoat!" What's a turncoat? A traitor. A Benedict Arnold. A Quisling. A guy who exchanges one LOYALTY to another. This guy should think about that for a second. If one is a turncoat TO THE INSIDERS, then the Trump supporters like that person. It's the "insiders" in the "conservative movement" who they are tired of getting screwed by.
Turncoat? To the insiders? That's the idea! The loyalty should not be to "insiders." People don't believe the insiders are working in the people's best interest. They don't trust the insiders. And, if the worst you can say is that Trump is uncouth, crude, lies, and a narcissist, etc., well, you're just saying he's as bad as our guys. But, a lot of people will take a ignorant, lying narcissist over an ignorant, lying narcissist insider. And "crude" doesn't bother people much. So he's crude? You think people don't know that politicians of all stripes are crude behind closed doors? Everyone knows it, and people prefer transparency in one's crudeness, then one putting up a family values face and seeing five mistresses in secret and denying it.
And, the used car salesman comes out at the end - "Technically we’re supposed to welcome previous Trump fans-turned-foes with open arms. But barring some miraculous comeback by Ted Cruz, the Trump campaign will have cost the Republican Party the presidency after eight years of Obama, and perhaps the Senate and even the House – and Scalia’s replacement on the Court as well." LOL - right! We have to buy what you're selling now, o' conservative establishment, because otherwise, the sky will fall, it'll all come crumbling down.
News flash to the conservative insiders: you aren't entitled to loyalty. And, many Trump supporters don't think it's a bad thing that Ted Cruz would be denied the White House. I, for one, don't want Ted Cruz anywhere near the White House. If that's your alternative. If that's your smart candidate, then keep him. Oh, Hillary might get in? Oh, well -- another establishment candidate, owned by Wall Street, beholden to the military industrial complex, who will continue the Patriot Act, and continue the drone policies, and continue our interventionist foreign policy and support future wars, will be elected. Same thing, different election.
And, finish off with "Years of effort spent attempting to dispel the accusations of inherent Republican misogyny, xenophobia, hypocrisy, ignorance and blind rage have been undone by Trump’s campaign. " Years of effort by whom? Ted Cruz types, who support prohibitions on abortion, elimination of planned parenthood, allowance of insurance companies and employers to pick and choose what medical services are covered by policies? You think the people who think Republicans are "xeonophobes" had the notion dispelled before Trump? Really? And, aren't Republicans the party trying to support religious monuments on government sites, and to enact laws giving people the right to discriminate against people if their religion says so? Who is dispelling what again?
"He didn’t abruptly become reckless, obnoxious, ill-informed, erratic, hot-tempered, pathologically dishonest, narcissistic, crude and catastrophically unqualified for the presidency overnight." You lack discernment. Those comments were from people who used to publicly support Trump, but now realize he's vastly unfit for the job. Trump is a lying scumbag and an ignorant son of a bitch...
I hope you realize that, come November, I'm going to laugh at the fools who thought they could tear down America and institute a Trump dictatorship.

After the Wisconsin primaries I have seen multiple people on my feed, who self-identify as leftists saying things like, "good job on both counts, Wisconsin!". Meaning the people of Wisconsin did a good thing not just in voting for Bernie but in voting for Cruz over Trump. I still can not understand this at all. I get why someone who is a long-standing member of the Republican party would feel that way, absolutely. But why the fuck would anybody on the left think that Ted Cruz is a better option than Trump? I think they are both awful, but if you really feel that way then either you are completely ignoring their actual platforms and just going on your gut feeling about them, or I don't know...

Yeah, Cruz is a nutbag. I am hoping he doesn't win, as it leaves open the possibility of rolling Trump at the RNC for someone only slightly insane, like Paul Ryan etc.

Well put, and exactly my point. Defund planned parenthood.
Outlaw abortion - from conception, the unborn are protected to the same extent as "other children."
Voted yes on TARP
Opposes any federal gun regulation
Supports a federal constitutional amendment limiting marriage to heterosexual only
Pro war - voted in favor of Iraq and against withdrawal from Iraq
Trump:
would not defund planned parenthood and says it does a lot of good for women
would not outlaw abortion, although he is personally pro life - although his recent flubs and flips on the issue are concerning, he was been in the past clear that he is pro life, but would not make abortion illegal for others, saying "it's a choice."
opposed TARP and bailing out the financiers who caused the crisis
Pro second amendment, but not opposed to reasonable gun regulation like effective background checks and would try to increase the effectiveness of background checks; not opposed to registration and licensing. He would also ban "some" assault weapons and extend waiting periods for purchase.
Does not oppose same-sex marriage
Opposed the Iraq War.
But, I guess Ryan is the more sensible one....

There aren't any more in the Democratic Party either. Look who the front runner is for them? Hillary effing Clinton?

Kasich is insane. Border amnesty first 100 days. And then they'll never stop coming, expecting amnesty. The msm never mentions that when Reagan granted amnesty it was in exchange for border control. That never happened, and the illegals never stopped coming.
Trump is fairly liberal, and may have once identified more closely with a democrat. His policies now can't be categorized by liberal or conservative. He's a nationalist and wants to make American great again.

Interesting article about why poor, white folk persistently vote against their interests and prop up the rich elite, like Trump, who couldn't give tow shits about them.

Interesting article. It actually acknowledged through indentured servitude whites were actually enslaved. Even hinted at that many anti slavery northerners were not pro black, they did not want blacks here period, as slave or free.Animavore wrote:Interesting article about why poor, white folk persistently vote against their interests and prop up the rich elite, like Trump, who couldn't give tow shits about them.

As for trump, poor blacks suffer more through lower wages from unskilled immigration, and their middle class has suffered most through globalist trade deals when manufacturing left. They'd be smart to vote for him.

I love how articles like this presume that none of the poor vote Democrat, and that the Democratic Party is not acting in the interests of the rich elite.

Corporate America has long been in bed with the Democrats, ever since Bill Clinton. Cheap (illegal) labor combined with generous welfare is the dream of companies like walmart now that Sam's dead.
