That's the thing here -- we get this complaints about Trump, but when the specific issues are looked at, he's really not as bad as the other two main candidates (Bernie really has no chance).

You brought up the fact that Clinton is a known liar. No shit. All politicians are known liars. Conveniently, somebody has kept track of how the front running candidates compare in regard to how much they lie vs. how much they tell the truth. Not as bad, my ass.

It was and is funny. In fact I have the add on on my browser which turns all instances of 'Trump' into 'Drumpf'.

What's so funny about it? I mean, other than the ethnocentric that German names sound funny to English speakers, what's so funny about Drumpf? Would it be funny if his grandfather's name was Merkel and they changed it to Trump?

Why isn't Oliver demanding that Ted Cruz go by his actual real name, "Rafael?"

Is it funny that Bill Clinton's birth name was actually "Blythe?" Why not run around laughing and giggling referring to him as "Blythe?"

And, Hillary should be called Rodham, not Clinton. She actually changed her name too.

Trump, of course, was born Trump, and his father was born Trump. But, it's hilarious to call him Drumpf, because, well, German names sound funny. If it was a funny sounding Latino or Asian name, I'm sure the same joke would be front and center on Oliver's show.....

Jesus! I've never seen someone so strenuously defend a joke vote in all my life. I've never seen a Brit give a serious case for the Raving Looney Monster Party, for instance. I mean I see Trump up there and I'm waiting for someone to pie him, pull his pants down and k8ck him up the hole with a giant, red boot that squeaks. Trump is one of those people you put on the ballot to spoil your vote. Like when some people put Connor McGregor down on the last Irish election. You're not actually supposed to vote for him.

I'm confident if he does, by some sick and twisted miracle, get the GOP then you can wave goodbye to the GOP as the party splits.

The wall in Mexico? He's talking about removing people already in the country illegally (shocking, I know) and securing the border.

Bomb Isis? Teaming up with Putin and Assad would be the most effective way to combat ISIS.

Nato? The (former) USSR doesn't even have Eastern Europe anymore. They certainly aren't going to suddenly invade Western Europe.

Korea? Well, the crazy North Koreans only have one ally, China. Trump is right to pressure China to deal with them.

China Trade? We all know China does not play fair when it comes to trade. I think Trump might be able to negotiate a better deal.

Sure, but that's only because there wasn't a mass media and internet back then. And, the privacy let Johnson get away with what amounted to sexual harassment of female subordinates.

Trump said recently that the other guys, when the cameras are not on, say far worse things than Trump ever said. And, anyone who has been around high level people knows that's true.

We have a prudish side here in the states, where certain things aren't said in polite company. But, what Trump actually says is very mild for what is said in private.

Indeed, and that's from Politifact, which is not a measurement of how often a candidate lies vs tells the truth in all their statements. It's a measure of what is considered mostly false, etc., by Politifact, and only considering those statements that are selected for analysis. There is subjectivity in the analysis, and subjectivity in the selection of statements. We can go into specific statements and see how that works if you like.

But, it boils down to calling trump a liar for saying it will cost $X to build a wall when the government estimates are $Y to build the wall. That can be analyzed as either "false" if the government stat is accepted as true. Or, it can be considered "half true" if it is acknowledged that Trump may be referring to a different kind of construction, or has alleged cost saving measures that have not been verified. That kind of thing.
