Agreed, but it's clear there is an agenda. I have no problem at all with the female angle to this production, in many ways I look forward to it. IMVHO Katee Sackhoff's Starbuck is the greatest on screen sci-fi character of the last 40 years, a very natural progression and extension after the likes of Aliens and Star Trek Voyager (sorry to use the two in the same sentence, but you get the idea).

But look at that trailer - a black woman exclaiming ignorance and a lack of education from the outset. For fuck's sake - I know it's just a story line but it's really piss poor. Fuck street smart - it's the shittiest myth.

I'm replying without clicking your link because the Mail will always stir it up anyway, but it is a shitty stereotype,a Pryor-esque knowing trope from decades past, a vital but expired stepping stone that has to be put away. It's actually so rare these days to be shocking, so to see it so prominently displayed in the trailer for a huge cinema event is pretty fucking astonishing.

I don't have any problem with a female Ghostbusters, nor do I think anyone else does. My primary objection is that the trailer demonstrates what we suspected all along - the movie will be as funny as childhood cancer.

I don't have a problem with a female Ghostbusters team. My problem is that I don't see a need for a sequel. And of course, based on this preview, that the film looks extraordinarily unfunny. If the selective editing employed in making a trailer can't even make the film look good then I think it's safe to say we're in for a shite film. Shame. I like Melissa McCarthy.
Oh, and the dumb nigger character is astonishing and sad.
