Furreners -- what do you dig about the States?

Post by Forty Two » Tue Mar 01, 2016 5:49 pm

O.k. all you wiley furreners, living out there among them thar dragons!

We know a lot about how the US is a drag, and how it's just not cool, you know. It's a downer, right - a real bummer.

But, there must be something about the States that you cats dig the most.

So, what's outta sight or gets you jazzed about the old USA?
“When I was in college, I took a terrorism class. ... The thing that was interesting in the class was every time the professor said ‘Al Qaeda’ his shoulders went up, But you know, it is that you don’t say ‘America’ with an intensity, you don’t say ‘England’ with the intensity. You don’t say ‘the army’ with the intensity,” she continued. “... But you say these names [Al Qaeda] because you want that word to carry weight. You want it to be something.” - Ilhan Omar

I dig Mc Donalds, American SF and Fantasy authors (not to mention HPLovecraft and Robert E Howard) and the Second Amendment.

Technological innovation at its peak, and the courage to use it in pioneering ways. Like, who did the first manned flight to the moon? In fact, when will a second nation ever accomplish that feat? The only downside to this achievement is that having proven that it is possible to send several Americans this far into space, they missed out on going through with the obvious solution for every one of the world's problems: Send them all.

Your natural environment. I have a massive desire to visit and photograph your national parks.

Also road movies and literature. Love em. And pioneer-era fiction/movies. Can't get enough of them.

And that frenchy place, whose name escapes me at the moment, down south.

And LakLak.

Jazz. Superhero movies. Jazz. Apple Jack chewing tobacco. Jazz. Red beans and rice. Jazz. Ben Stiller.

Sorry, scratch that last one, it should have read 'Jazz'.
