Repeal the First Amendment in the US?

“When I was in college, I took a terrorism class. ... The thing that was interesting in the class was every time the professor said ‘Al Qaeda’ his shoulders went up, But you know, it is that you don’t say ‘America’ with an intensity, you don’t say ‘England’ with the intensity. You don’t say ‘the army’ with the intensity,” she continued. “... But you say these names [Al Qaeda] because you want that word to carry weight. You want it to be something.” - Ilhan Omar

Can you give a summary of the video or argument they are making? Need to limit my video watching for data purposes.

It's a video of a guy getting Yale University students to sign a petition calling for the repeal of the First Amendment to the US Constitution. The First Amendment protects individual freedom of speech, press, religion, assembly and to petition government.

Even more idiotic than trying to repeal the second... or any of the ten first, the thirteenth, thanks Jim, has already been repealed... (or is it the eightteenth,I don't remember?)

Would it be better if we repealed them?

I just put up a poll in the Star Wars Google+ community about freedom of speech and 84% of people so far support repealing the first amendment to prevent spoilers. :tea:

What's the reasoning behind this petition? Is this about Trump wanting to censor the internet?

For all the setup he gives to Yale being a source of America's "best and brightest" I think it's just poignant satire.

It's indeed likely about trump saying horrible things that oughtta be illegal... but it's mostly about somebody being an utter moron, and I don't mean trump in this instance

As for it being satire, that may be,n but I don't get the point

Probably safe space nonsense.

I think it's not real petition. It's just a ploy to see if they can get Yale students - supposedly smart -- to sign a petition to repeal the first amendment.
