Of course stairs have their own dangers. In fact, more people are injured on stairs, than on poles.

I live in Gloucestershire, and haven't heard anything about this. Not that I give a fuck.
I did once see a fire-engine lying on it's side, at a local intersection. It was at a very busy set of traffic lights. Maybe they should ban them from jumping the lights.
