According to the United Nations accord on human rights, to discriminate on the basis of religion is wrong. If the US accepts a Christian doctor as an immigrant, and refuses a Muslim doctor because he is a Muslim, that is an offence against basic human rights. Basically, Trump is in the wrong.

He's not going to win the republican nomination. His most serious threat is that he makes irrational homophobic bigoted wankers (i.e. the other Republican runners) seem sane. They get a free pass with all their bigoted nonsense while ever Trump is there. But interestingly today, even the other republican runners couldn't stomach it any more. Even Ted Cruz has called him out as a dangerous idiot.

Since when has being a dangerous idiot been a bar to being President? We've had a number of them, all of them Democrats, including Woodrow Wilson, FDR, Kennedy, Carter, Clinton and, the winner by a league at being a dangerous idiot, Barack Obama...twice.

That applies more to every one of those Presidents I listed than to Donald Trump, who is merely addressing a clear and present danger to the nation and who has support from US Muslims for his plan.

By the way, the biggest bigot, and racist, in American history was Democrat Woodrow Wilson, who was not only a proud and vocal racist but who also had more than 175,000 American citizens arrested for opposing his plan to insert the US into WWI. He was as intolerant of different opinions as it gets.
