'Possible terrorism' with 1 man, 1 woman dead

A mass shooting at a California social services center killed at least 14 and wounded 17 on Wednesday.

Three gunmen linked to the San Bernardino massacre at the Inland Regional Center fled in a black GMC Yukon for three miles before police brought the vehicle to a halt. Two individuals, one male and one female, were killed in a shootout with cops. One individual was taken into custody, but police declined to note the individual’s gender.

Two law enforcement sources identified one of the deceased suspects as Syed Farook, an American citizen, reported the Los Angeles Times.

Authorities have executed a high-risk search warrant at a Redlands home belonging to Farook’s family.

According to public records, a Syed R. Farook is employed as an environmental health specialist by the San Bernardino County Health Department.

Hussam Ayloush, executive director of the Council on American Islamic Relations in a Wednesday evening news conference, said the family had not been able to track down named suspect Syed Farook or his wife since Wednesday morning.

NBC said a knowledgeable source said another member of the trio is believed to be Farook’s brother.

Regarding a report about the name of a second suspect, Rick Serrano of the Los Angeles Times originally tweeted: “San Bernardino police released the name of a second suspect in today’s shooting as Tayyeep Bin Ardogan. Reports indicate Bin Ardogan is a 28-year-old citizen of the Middle Eastern country Qatar.”

According to press conference this morning the police don't think there was a third shooter any more. This is what I posted in ratskep:

Motivation of the attackers very unclear.

On the one hand: Muslim perpetrator with new recently immigrated wife and professional setup of the attack, committed by two people, speaks for prepared, organized politically/religiously motivated attack.

On the other hand: The target of the attack (Workplace of the husband) and him having been there at the day and left because of some quarrel shortly before the attack speaks for a personal and spontaneous motivation.

Wild meaningless speculation that is not to be taken seriously:

Maybe the couple had planned a terrorist attack for this weekend. Some public place with lots of people. That's why they had all the gear prepared ready at home. But then Syed went to the Christmas Party. And the Boss handed out Christmas presents for all employees. And every male employee got a bottle of Bourbon Whiskey, except for Syed (because known Muslim) and Bob (because known abstinent Alcoholic). They only got a pair of socks. And so Syed was like "No Whiskey for me? Fuck you. Let's do this terror thing immediately and with you fuckers".

Apparently the target was mental health professionals, not the mentally ill themselves.

California attacker Tashfeen Malik pledged allegiance to IS

The female suspect in the California gun attack pledged allegiance to the leader of the Islamic State (IS) group on Facebook, US officials say.
Tashfeen Malik made the post under an account with a different name, the officials told US media.

Fourteen people were killed and 21 wounded in Wednesday's attack.
Malik and her husband Syed Rizwan Farook, 28, died in a shootout with police after the killings at San Bernardino, west of Los Angeles.
