Feminist journalist hits back at abuse she received after man she reported lost his job

A journalist who reported the man who called her a ‘sl*t’ online to his company has hit back at trolls accusing her of causing the man to lose his job.
Clementine Ford was called a ‘whore’ and a ‘b**** who should kill herself’ after she name and shamed Michael Nolan, who was a hotel worker at The Meriton Group.
Nolan, from Sydney, had allegedly replied to an offensive comment on Facebook by calling her a ‘sl*t*.

The writer then decided to share his message on Facebook, including a link to his Twitter profile, which stated the company he worked for.
She wrote: ‘I wonder if the folks over at Meriton Apartments are aware that a man listing himself as a supervisor for their business likes to leave comments on women’s Facebook pages calling them sl**s.’
She immediately attracted numerous comments accusing her of depriving the man of his livelihood.

Yet rather than back down, Ford chose to respond to the trolls and said: ‘These men don’t get to just go around leaving these kinds of comments and attempting to degrade women just for the hell of it.
‘This was a comment left on the thread of a screenshot of a man publicly saying I would jibber less with a c**k in my mouth.

‘Calling me ‘sl*t’ in response to that is baffling, unless this man genuinely believes that women who speak out against abuse need to be taken down. Why should I put up with that?’

Too many people delude themselves about their anonymity, then act like some bully at school when there is no teacher within sight or earshot. I chuckle with delight every time one of them gets caught out.

As for me, I am prepared to own up to anything and everything I say in this or any other forum, on my facebook page, in emails or anywhere else. This includes owning up to mistakes I obviously have made along the way.
