True, but Trump has the same credentials while being human. Hilary needs to humanize - she needs to resexualize - pant-suit feminism is so 2000. If she wants to be gender-queer, that's cool, I'm all for it, but she still needs to engage in social intercourse - the topic of the day is gender issues and she smells like anti-septic.Sean Hayden wrote:Sounds like somebody not easily distracted from achieving their goals, able to prioritize and keep a level head where others may fall apart...

Stuff like this: http://www.bustle.com/articles/114167-h ... r-campaign will come back to haunt her and, if she doesn't address it, probably cause her to lose the election.

I'm not sure Trump has been tested in the same way. But I like this view, it's interesting.Śiva wrote:True, but Trump has the same credentials while being human. Re: Anyone but Hilary
I'm sure the average US voter doesn't give a shit about gender correctness.
Neither do I.
I am interested in a President's ability to do nothing, in the face of overwhelming pressure to just do SOMETHING, in a crisis. Even if nothing is by far the best option. It takes a special kind of strength of character to ignore the clamor that "something must be done" when every option is shitty.
It's the weak characters, who are desperate to look strong. That was Bush to a T.

Re: Anyone but Hilary
I think you're underestimating Generation Y and third-wave feminism. We elected Obama with the hope campaign in 2008 he rode that wave to re-election in 2012 despite having a voting public that was largely disillusioned with his policy making.
Re: Anyone but Hilary
As far as doing nothing, that's why I support Jeb - at least at this time, maybe Hillary can surprise me. He's part of the old-money of big oil, a lot business ties in the middle-east, and while Shell transitions to biofuels they're still pumping crude in Saudi Arabia. You can bet he's interested in maintaining the status quo - the trouble with that is he'd like to do that in both foreign and domestic policy making. We've seen the legalization of gay marriage under Obama, but you can bet that a new Bush administration will do everything they can to stymie further progress in civil liberties if only to appease their conservative constituency.
Hillary is a double-edged sword, she could represent real progress for western culture, and particularly gender issues, if only she can rise to be the sort of figurehead we need from a modern empowered woman in the white house. I'm not sure she's up to the job, in fact I'm afraid she'd be a spectacular failure, and I'm willing to suck up 4 years of Republican administration to avoid what could be a horrible blunder on the most publicized of public platforms in the western world.

What's wrong with gender issues, as they stand?

Too much old-guard 'not-in-my-backyard', "don't ask don't tell", "fags are going to hell", and the best you can hope for is "keep it in the bedroom sailor".mistermack wrote:What's wrong with gender issues, as they stand?

The republicans seem to be self destructing, so she might get it by default, rather than on her own merits...

Yes indeed. The voting public wants to be morally right and today, if you're not voting from your bible or quran, what's morally right is third-wave feminism (third-wave feminism is concerned more with redefining gender roles than 'equality' - but that's another thread).mistermack wrote:And you reckon the US voters want something else?Śiva wrote:Too much old-guard 'not-in-my-backyard', "don't ask don't tell", "fags are going to hell", and the best you can hope for is "keep it in the bedroom sailor".mistermack wrote:What's wrong with gender issues, as they stand?

But I'll look out for it as an election issue.
