This was surely only a matter of time. I'm only glad it wasn't shot down directly by American friendly fire in Syria.

I thought these Russian planes were meant to be good, being based on stolen American blueprints and all? Even the Turks can shoot them down. :nono:

We call that "World War III."

Just what the Jihadis want.

However, the first thing all sides should agree on is to nuke Mecca and other Middle-east terrorist hot-spots so that we can then sort the sheep from the goats for the rest of the war without having the jihadis annoying us.

With the "all for one and one for all" pact of NATO, that means that every member of NATO shot down the bomber.
Whether the plane crossed the Turkey border or not, (which I doubt), the result is that every NATO plane that crosses Russian airspace is now a legitimate target for the Russians to shoot down, if they feel like it.
That's exactly how wars get started out of nothing, and it illustrates the sheer stupidity of allowing countries like Turkey into NATO.

If I was Cameron, I would be proposing that Turkey be expelled, for raising the danger level of a tit-for-tat war to start, without consulting any of her partners.
That's the danger of having these one for all agreements. It puts the decision-making into the hands of the stupidest loonies.

How the fuck could you possibly talk about including Ukraine into NATO after shit like this?

I'm just waiting to see Russia shoot down a British jet that strays over Russian Territory, which they would have every right to do. :ab: What fun.

I trust Putin to do the right thing and bomb Greece for this atrocity.

Don't make me choke on my morning coffee. When team USA started playing hockey with team Russia over Syria 2 years ago it was obvious what their game plan was. America first, fuck the world.. unless someone throws them a fricken' bone they're preparing to give us all a MAD scare. This isn't Boris Spassky's last defense, to mix gaming metaphors, this is Petrosian's first aggression.

I'll stick with my cock-up hypothesis with regards WWIII albeit there is no final difference when compared with a conspiracy. Sits easier with my life experience.

Greece is a Russian traditional ally due to a lot of cultural commonalities... he'll bomb Greece only after it has fallen to the New Caliphate

Come tu vuole. It's functionally the same, but a lot less fun. In my opinion.

References to seminal moments in the Cold War that were really mediated crises channeled through sport - hockey and chess in these cases.
