Why is there no film of...

Post by Brian Peacock » Fri Nov 06, 2015 3:53 pm

Something Jim said got me thinking.

Isn't it time Clive Barker's Weaveworld was made into a three-parter, perhaps directed by Peter Jackson?
Tarantino should do Umberto Eco's The Island of the Day Before. That would be awesome.

Any more?

Iain M. Banks novels should be made to TV series.

The Dice Man

The cast, director, locations and dialogue would, of course, be randomly chosen using dice.

Nice one XC, but isn't that how any film with Jason Statham is made anyway?

I'd like to see a film about the heroic endeavour to lay the first trans-Atlantic telegraphy cable, a feat so technically difficult in its time that it was akin to the difficulties faced in sending humans to the moon in the 1960s. Benedict Cumberland to star as the maverick electrical engineer Edward Wildman Whitehouse, of course.

Films or TV series of:

* "The Black Company" and sequels by Glen Cook
* "The Chanur Saga" by C. J. Cherryh
* "The Honour Harrington series" by David Weber (this may have been the one I mentioned earlier)

and all the other SF series I really like, because that makes them automatically absolutely brilliant... :shifty:

Elric of Melniboné would be nice to see on the big screen.

The Gormenghast Trilogy by Mervyn Peake. BBC did a mini series which was actually ok but these books need a fuck off big budget awesome-job.
A Dune re-make because CGI has come a looooong way!
Arthur C Clarke's remaining two Odyssey books.
Here's to Now.

That old paedophile? Fuck him, there are dozens of interesting Christian saints, even for the atheist, - for one I'd like to see the life of St. Thomas of Aquinas! :P

I'd like to see an epic film of the Great Siege of Malta in 1565:

Disagree, Imrryr would be as hard to accurately depict as R'lyeh... not enough colors is the spectrum and superbaroque architecture and all that.
