Killer whales
Mysteries do my head in, and this is definitely one.
http://edition.cnn.com/2015/10/26/world ... oat-sinks/
Nothing seems right about it. The weather was calm. The boat wasn't near the rocks, the boat went down in seconds, too quick for a mayday message. The passengers were not wearing life preservers.
No passenger has made a statement as far as I know, even though 18 survived, as did the 3 crew.
Why the fuck has there been no statement as to what happened? The captain of the boat would know what happened. So would the crew. Probably so would many of the passengers. But there hasn't been a whisper from them so far. The silence is totally unnatural.
Something's not right, but I can't imagine what.
Maybe they hit a Soviet or Chinese nuclear sub, or a US one. Or maybe one of the whales decided to sink the boat. None of it is very convincing though.
But it's not normal. Usually, if that happened, the Captain would have been up in front of the cameras, describing a fucking great wave that flipped the boat. Or whatever it was that happened.
Somebody would have, out of 21 survivors, anyway.

Could be a nautical version of Andreas Lubitz?
A book is a version of the world. If you do not like it, ignore it; or offer your own version in return.

If Councillor with the Ahousaht First Nation, Tom Campbell, is to be believed we will find out exatly what happened as soon as pictures of the survivers are published. The Councillor said: "Their looks tell the whole story,"

Terrified Shell flees Arctic as quickly as possible
OIL giant Shell has refused to discuss what it found deep below the surface of the Arctic.
The company abandoned its $7bn operation in Alaska without looking back or packing anything away, with many staff resigning immediately to spend their life screaming into a cushion.
Engineer Wayne Hayes said: “There’s no oil in Alaska. None at all. No oil, no light, no glimmer of hope that god would not create such evi… I feel I may have said too much.”
He added: “What? This white streak in my hair? No, I’ve always had this, it definitely didn’t just appear overnight.”
Shell will present its preliminary findings in a paper entitled The Howling Void and will call for the entire region to be enclosed within a 1000ft-high wall.
The company will continue to explore new sites but will now pay some boy scouts to live there for six months to see if their dreams are haunted by giant, unblinking, lizard-like eyes.
(continued, so it seems....)

There may be more boring parody sites than The Daily Mash. I think I stumbled across one a few weeks ago, but cannot recall its name or any other details about it.

Sites dealing with weather are not parody sites. They are pretty boring, though.

No rough weather on the day it happened according to reports - more likely a whale, or a landslip generated 'mega-wave'.

Re: Killer whales
Those survivors know what happened to them. I just don't understand how or why they are being kept away from the media.
The crew are all alive. They would know if a wave flipped the boat. Or if a whale hit it. Or if they hit a rock. Not a fucking word from any of them.
It's so unlike any other disaster, news-wise, there has to be something out of the ordinary.
And funnily enough, none of the media are remarking on the silence from the survivors. That in itself is odd too.
The Canadian authorities are making noises like "it might be many months before we know what happened".
What the fuck? Just ASK the fuckers, and they will tell you.
I find it interesting. I've been to Tofino, I spent nearly a month on long beach, about five miles from there. It's a lovely place, and you can see whales and killer whales from the beach if you're in the right place and time.
It's not notorious for giant freak waves. Far from it. The sea isn't particularly rough around there under normal circumstances, and this was supposed to be a nice day by all accounts.
They fish for salmon around there in far smaller boats than this Leviathon, and nobody ever said to me that it was dangerous.
Still, I guess, all will be revealed.
Or maybe not. If nothing is said soon, you have to put your money on some kind of defence incident, unlikely though that sounds.
Edit :
Finally, a bit of clarity, according to the news today.
The Canadian Authorities are saying that the boat tipped, when all of the passengers rushed to one side.
Presumably to view some whale incident.
Why the fuck they have taken this long to announce it, I don't get. But it does sound feasible, given the kind of activity that they are engaged in.
Mind you, if that was enough to tip the boat, then it was a bomb waiting to go off. Because that is surely in the nature of spectator activities.
You would think that the same thing would have happened before, to a less severe extent, short of tipping the boat.
The boat wasn't fully loaded to capacity, so if twenty people can tip it, surely it must have been nearly tipped many times in the past.

Re: Killer whales
Could be something else affected the centre of gravity and added to the effect of passengers rushing to one side. Something heavy installed on the top deck? Something heavy removed from below decks? Incorrectly filled ballast tanks?

Re: Killer whales
From what they said on the news, the boat was side-on to the wave that tipped it. Which doesn't help.
But really, if the boat can't handle the job that it's doing, then it shouldn't be on the water.
I still don't see why this didn't come out straight away. The accident happened on Sunday, and the first hint of a cause comes out on Wednesday. Maybe the skipper knew what had happened, and managed to get the crew to keep quiet. Blame it on the wave, and hope that nobody makes anything of the other circumstances.
It certainly looks like the passengers should have been controlled better, and the boat shouldn't have been side-on to the waves, with the passengers all on one side.
It might look like people are being wise after the event, but I reckon you can be pretty certain that this has nearly happened many times previously, so they should have and probably did know the danger.
