Americans Pretty Much Only Stop Eating When They’re Sleeping

When analyzing the eating patterns, the researchers couldn’t pick out defined breakfast, lunch and dinner times for most participants. People started eating about 1.5 hours after waking up and finished a couple of hours before bedtime with no discernible large breaks in between, the researchers found. About 25 percent of calories were eaten before noon, and 35 percent consumed after 6 p.m.

Sleepeaters tend to have at least one episode every night, and these usually occur regardless of possessing any actual feelings of hunger or thirst detected by the brain. Sleepeaters also tend to eat foods high in calories or sugar, and may eat foods while sleepeating that they normally would not eat on their own, or which would not be seen as socially acceptable to eat on their own, such as peanut butter on its own, or sugar or syrup on its own. The food is also consumed much quicker than it would be during waking hours.

WTF is wrong with eating peanut butter on its own, and washing it down with a nice glass of maple syrup? Fucking food Nazis.

I love me a good spoon of peanut butter, where is the shame in that?

I've lost almost 2 stone in the last few months and I eat all day (though I usually stop at dinner, or have a very small snack after). The things I eat throughout the day are low in calories and either very high in protein or low fat and high fibre, and at the end of the day I finish with a max 1200 net intake (whatever I eat, minus my exercise). Well, that's during the week. On the weekend I'm not nearly as strict. Anyway, eating all day works for losing weight when you do it in the right way, I don't think that's what they're talking about here though...
