Calls to postpone leadership contest after suspicions Labour infiltrated by Labour supporters
There have been calls to postpone the Labour leadership contest after claims that the Labour party has been infiltrated by Labour supporters.
The four contenders have been meeting to discuss concerns that there may not be a predictable passing of the leadership from one tedious New Labour wonk to another.
“There are very real concerns that genuine Labour supporters have infiltrated the party’s membership,” said Liz Kendall earlier.
“We spent the best part of the last twenty years trying to get rid of these ghastly people with their beards, dungarees and Billy Bragg albums and replace them with pleasant looking young people in nice Next suits, and now they’re back.” ...

Re: Calls to postpone leadership contest after suspicions La
That's funny, and true, and funny.
And true. Some of us don't think that asylum-seekers are a blight, swarm, or tidal wave threatening to swamp the country and dilute our presumed unique specialness; some of don't think that the very richest need to be cut slack from the tax system with preferential treatment while the poorest pick up the bill for their largess in slashed services, tears, a children burdened with stonking debt; some of us don't think that we need a nuclear arsenal considering the fact that 15-20 nukes could pretty much wipe everything off the biosphere; some of us don't think that the free market is the ultimate answer to whatever question you can think of, or that the free market makes you a nicer person, or that a persons value to society is defined by their bank balance; some of us don't think that secret trials in which even the defendant isn't allowed to know the charges or the evidence brought against them are compatible with civilised judicial standards; some of us don't think that escalating public borrowing to fund tax cuts, to provide a safety net for dodgy deals so that banks don't have to offer realistic interest rates on savings, or subsidising speculative and unproven fracking everywhere but in the Tory heartlands makes social, moral, or economic sense; some of us don't think that everyone on benefits is a dependent cheat fecklessly pissing it up or getting something for nothing, such that they need to be forced into indentured labour to even qualify for belittling life on the poverty line; some of us think that raising children out of poverty is not only a moral obligation but actually pays back more in the long run than expanding the poverty roll; and some of us are sick and tired of political parties thinking they have to look, sound, and smell like aristocrats, snatching at the coat tails of their betters in a vein attempt to present themselves as bonafide born to rule statesmen, like that toff Churchill, and in order to appeal to a British public who are constantly being told that the social structure of Downton Abbey is the natural order of things.
Sorry, I've had a shit day.

Bollocks, I'll leave that to rEv and DaveDoodoo.
I'm just fed up with a conservative narrative that wholly relies on the politics of envy, fear, and hatred.

Aye. 'Tis a simple formula. Libertarian or Marxists? There can be only one.
