The statistics collected are utterly different in nature between the 2 reports, both in the nature of the data, and the definitions of violence. One would require further information, and the services of a professional statistician with many hours to spare if one wanted to make a valid comparison of violence in the 2 countries.

250% less than your graphic claimed. That's one hell of an error margin. And as update #1 to the article makes clear, 776 represents the worst case scenario. The best case scenario is 271. The actual figure probably lies somewhere in between, which pretty much blows the numbers you cite and the underlying tenor out of the water.

What is more, have a look at this graph and keep in mind that gun control in the UK was tightened in 1997:



So much for the "more guns less crime" mantra. As far as the UK is concerned, that mantra just does not fit the facts.
