Yes. Austerity measures are unavoidable. No doubt about that at all. A government simply cannot in the long run spend more money than it receives. What Greece has rejected are not austerity measures as such. It has rejected them being aimed at pensioners and people living on or near the breadline. Perhaps the EU might have been more successful in insisting on change and an enlistment on austerity measures if its demands focused on tax reforms, tax restructuring and cleaning up the corruption that goes with not enforcing the existing tax laws.

It's not the EU. It's lender countries. And unsurprisingly, they are interested in where the money is coming from to repay what they are being asked to lend.
Unfortunately, your suggestions have no track record of producing any money.
