Pets

Post by Blind groper » Sat Jul 04, 2015 10:21 pm

The wealthy west spends roughly half a trillion dollars per year on pet care.

World hunger, on the other hand is concentrated into less than a billion people. They are the ones who cannot be sure they will have anything to eat tomorrow.

If the money spent on pet care were diverted instead to those who are truly hungry, world hunger would end.

Even better, feed the pets to the truly hungry. And make bedding for them from the skins.
I'm in.

But hang on, every time I see newsreel footage of poverty and the starving, I see fucking dogs running around.
Fuck em. If they can't be bothered to chew on their own pets, why should the west skimp on theirs?

Ever wonder what is the means of population control for those dogs in poor countries?

Here is a clue. They do not get given the pill.

To Jim.

Ever heard of toxoplasmosis?

That is a disease spread by cats, and only by cats. It is estimated that 1 in 3 people world wide are infected. The main symptoms of toxoplasmosis in humans is a form of mild mental illness. Among other things, infected people get to like the smell of cat urine.

Money saved on pet food is not going to solve world hunger. In fact, money is not an issue at all. Distribution is the problem, not a shortage of money. Do you realise that one third of all food produced is wasted? And I'm not even referring to the obesity problem in our affluent (or should I say "effluent"?) nations.

Money is the exact problem!!!!

If those who now suffer from hunger had money to buy food, the distribution networks required to sell them food would arise in record time.

Then it affects most kiwis, given your preference for the cat's piss you call beer!

Good response, Jim.

Mind you, when it comes to beer, Oz and NZ beers both fall down. When I visited Europe, I fell in love with Abbe beers from Belgium. Especially Duvel (which means devil in Flemish). Superb!

NZ and oz have some excellent beers. Of course, you won't know that if all you drink are commercial beers.

First you need to kill the bacterial-fluke thing in the pet owners heads making them think cats are cute and should be fed in preference to human beings. A course of antibiotics in a pet free quarantine zone like a old fashioned TB ward followed by re-instillation of fear therapy done by placing the patient in a safe cage amongst hungry lions? :coffee:

I'll not donate the money allocated to my pets until you donate the money you allocate to scuba diving - among anything else the poor and starving people regard as luxuries. Get off your high horse, hypocrite.
