I think what he said was a lame joke, even an autistic scientist can't be that stupid in front of a female audience, though that's just my opinion.
Lovely. Any chance of you answering the question?

Equality? That's like computer/internet quality, right?
I believe that would be iQuality, and you have to pay Apple for it.

I'm so glad I live in my own little universe, and the only real contact I have with the wider world is via a couple of websites. I wouldn't last very long out there these days. I'd make some comment, meant completely in jest, and be handed my head for it. As Saavik said in the Wrath of Khan, "Humor. It is a difficult concept. It is not logical".
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

All this talk of dicks punching up, and cunts punching down, is making me feel quite horny.

You will have to define 'sexists bollocks' then. If you are talking about humour then as far as I'm concerned nothing is off limits.

Cunt is only (considered) a sexist slur in the USA, cunt outside of the USA is mostly used against men. I only started using it against women when I found out it annoyed feminist.
Dick isn't a sexist slur, because you can't be sexist against men, as they are the privileged ones. It's punching up, not down, so it's o.k., and not sexist.
Right you are. If I didn't know any better I would think they were using this excuse so they can behave like...erm..you know, dicks. :thinks:

Well regardless of whether any particular word or phase is sexist, or not, surely you'd agree that sexists bollocks exists in some form or other, so do you think that the sexists bollocks that does exist is unacceptable, in practice and in principle as it were?

You don't need to worry on that score as you seldom meet these humourless cunts when you are socializing, people who want a good time will always avoid killjoys who suck the oxygen out of the room.

I supposed. Is it sexist to date exclusively women? I discriminate against men in my romantic habits.

I'm waiting for the day when sexual preference is declared by some group as discriminatory. We already have some groups testing the waters with notions of "not being attracted to fat women" as equaling "fat shaming," prejudice and bigotry.

Do I think people can be discriminated against because of their sex/gender, yes of course I do. Have people been discriminated against because of their sex/gender, yes they have. HTH.

I discriminate against men when it comes to lifting things. If a guy at the office says, hey can you put this box up there on the top shelf?" I'm going to laugh at him. If a woman asks me that, I always pick it up for her.

That's everyday sexism for you. I do my part to support the patriarchy.

Here is an archive of the Guardian where he gives his side of the story.

Sir Tim Hunt reveals he was forced to resign from University College London without being given the chance to explain himself. The beleaguered British biologist Sir Tim Hunt has revealed that he was forced to resign from his post at University College London (UCL) without being given a chance to explain his controversial remarks about women in science.

However, as a result of the furore, Hunt was told by UCL that he would have to resign his honorary post at the college. This point was supported by Hunt’s wife, Mary Collins, who also has a post at UCL, as a professor of immunology. “Tim was still on the plane from Seoul when a senior manager at UCL phoned me and said Tim had to resign his honorary position. They had not even spoken to Tim at that point. He just said Tim had to resign or we fire him. It was very upsetting. We are both extremely angry.” Hunt was then sacked from his post on the European Research Council’s science committee and has since resigned from other posts, including membership of a Royal Society committee. “I have become toxic,” he told the Observer. “I am finished.”

Fucked the last one up: cont.

I am not going to agree with an absolute term unacceptable. Do I think it is wrong? well sometimes yes it is wrong.
