Re: Ban Gone With The Wind.
"Consigned to museums" isn't quite the same as banning.
However, I agree that even that would be a rather absurd form of censorship. But, without accepting any form of censorship, the bulk of the article is simply a reasoned critique of the aspects of the film which are sympathetic towards racist attitudes; such a critique is simply part of intellectual discourse about items of culture...

I'm not conservative as in the UK there is too much Royal family bollocks and nationalism associated with the tories, If you could be a libertarian who supports the welfare state well that would be me. I will have to form my own party of one I suppose.rEvolutionist wrote:Well you are certainly one now. Brain injury along the way, perhaps?

You're confusing and conflating political conservatism with the Conservative Party. The Daily Mail would be so proud of you.DaveDodo007 wrote:I'm not conservative as in the UK there is too much Royal family bollocks and nationalism associated with the tories, If you could be a libertarian who supports the welfare state well that would be me. First they came for the Confederate Flag
...but I didn't do anything, because I wasn't from Texas
Then they came for the Mississippi flag.

Then they came for the Hawaiian flag.

Then they came for the California flag.

Then they came for the American flag.

They're ok for flags now, then.
They could have had the British one too, as far as I'm concerned. And wiped their arse with it, and made a waistcoat for the pigs with it.
Flags are like medals. They cost hardly anything, but they help to control idiots.

Then they came for the ten commandments in courts of law...
Then they came for young earth creationism in science classes...
Then they came for faith healing in hospitals...
Then they came for paedophiliacs among priests... wait, no, that is yet to come.
As far as I can tell, nobody has asked for the banning of Gone with the Wind, nor the banning of the Confederate flag, but people have rightly demanded that the symbol for those who went to war in the attempt to preserve their right to own slaves be removed from all town halls and any other official government buildings.
