Ride me all day!

What do you reckon? Sexist and offensive? Or hilarious?

It seems, according to Twitter, that I'm meant to be outraged. Only I'm not. Plus there's another picture on the buses with a fella. So what's the problem? Are people being overly sensitive about this? Or am I not sensitive enough?

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

I can't see what is offensive.

Seaside postcard titillation. Could distract a driver and cause accidents. Especially if they come from another part of the country with less half-witted humour? :read:

Thing is, it was one of the prominent atheists on Twitter who tweeted it. And we're all so quick to tell religious apologists to lighten up, that no one has a right to not be offended and they should learn to have a laugh. But then something like this comes along and they're so uptight they can't even move.

I don't think it's a good message to be sending young kids. Young kids are already over-sexualised by our consumerist culture. Regarding sexism, as long as there's a guy getting ridden as well, then I wouldn't think it was sexism.

That's utter bullshit, Tatt.

Also, sexist humour is gutter humour. Leave it to sexists, no matter which side of the fence they are on. Wait. I'm not finished yet. There's nothing sexy about sitting in a bus all day. Not even for three quid. The advertising campaign is very low level, associating a product with sex. Along with playing on fear it is a common approach to manipulate through emotions, and just as shit. Both give the advertising industry - and people who approve such campaign - a deservedly bad name.

Well, I doubt young kids would even understand the joke. But even if they did, then humor wins.

horrible "humor"... 3 quid may be a nice rate for a day pass on the bus, but with an ad like that, I demand to actually ride the gal.

Frag it, even the lowest of the lowbrow, the sun has given up on p3 girls, this is ... so low and unfunny I can't express properly the disgust I feel.

Does seem a remarkable price for a all day ride. Not sure kids would be hurt seeing it. Most are very literalistic. Those who aren't tend to be the smarter sorts. And will have read up on biology etc. Nothing wrong with purile sexism, a phase. Unless it causes a car crash?

I dunno, I just don't find it in any way offensive. I think it's funny. Maybe the reason I think it's funny is because it's refreshingly irreverent. You would never EVER see anything like this in the States. We're too prudish here.

it's not offensive, it's... I don't know, off key? plus I don't want to ride the bus all day, but I'd be glad to ride that lady, even for less than an hour...

For the ones who understand it, it just reinforces the idea that it's ok to sexualise everything. And for young kids that's not really a good message to be sending. As Hermit said, sexualising a bus ride is just plain stupid.

It's funny in that a bus is the last thing you'd expect to see advertised with such obvious sexualisation. I'd hope that they meant it to be ridiculous and outrageous and therefore no more than an attention grabbing publicity stunt. But the problem is it also works as generally sexist "sex sells" advertising, it probably will reinforce sexist attitudes amongst some people. If there weren't sexists in the world and constant sexual advertising for everything else, it would be fine, but there are so it's not.
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]
