Actually, the leafy eastern suburbs of Melbourne are truly the happiest place on Earth...

As long as the gin holds out...

Actually, the survey is probably full of shit. It seems to involve financial matters and all sorts of standard-of-living criteria. It probably reflects what matters to the person who designed it.

The last time I saw a happiness list, Bhutan was at the top. But they don't have much money, or gadgets. And they are nowhere on this list. So either Bhutan has suddenly become incredibly miserable, or it's down to the criteria.

I'm willing to bet that nothing much has changed in Bhutan.

and I bet that the only person to really think Bhutan is the happiest place in the world to live in is the king and a handful of his cronies.

... and it's full of Buddhists. I expect most of them are fairly happy.

One of the few countries I would want to visit, if I ever sold up and hit the road.

Hard for foreigners to get in though, apparently. Maybe that's why they are happy.

I do agree that Monarchy is a shit system though.

Lakland is the happiest place. Dope is free and there are Corona bushes and bacon trees is every yard. The national anthem is Margaritaville and quiet religious people pay all the taxes, but uppity ones are deported. Our motto is 'All y'all can go fuck y'alls selves.' The women are all beautiful and children are prohibited.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Thing is about countries like Bhutan, they actually generate very little garbage. Packaging is virtually zero, so what there is is biodegradable stuff.

I saw a tv program about trout fishing in Bhutan, which is the only knowledge I have of the country.
About a hundred years ago, some european introduced some brown trout from Scotland into a few sites, and they spread. It now has the highest trout streams and lakes in the world. The water is crystal clear, even through the villages. And nobody fishes for the trout, as the country is Buddhist.

It's a trout fishing paradise. But there are tigers and bears to look out for.
