Your Ideal Quiet Space?

Post by cronus » Thu Mar 12, 2015 10:36 am

Where would you retreat to? are you already there? is it a ideal or something you've achieved?

For me it is a tent on the slopes of a mountain. In winter with light snow. Surrounded by elements and snug in my bug out shelter, the portable hermitage of a quiet thinker. :read:

Tucked up in the back of my van, on a mattress wrapped in a thick duvet with a twenty year old nurse.

I wouldn't mind having that space back again.

I retreat to the twilight realm of my own secret thoughts where Daddy can't hurt me.

Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

The little-used back room of a country pub. With no sound but the crackle of a log fire and a murmur of half-heard voices from the lounge bar. A pint, obviously, is also involved. And a good book.

Triangulate into the void and look for the still places between the galaxies. There you will find me. There you will find Terry Pratchett albeit a different still place on account of the times and motion of things. Very dark. Yet the quantum mechanicsmeans you are more likely to be in a closer void than one further away when your mortal frame perishes.

I like to suspend in a water column warm enough that the cold tank air doesn't chill. I should get a Draeger...
I like to shoot a fine rifle on a nice day. Zen quiet.
I like turning the motor off and setting sail. That's a great quiet.
I like to sit on a deer stand in the Eastern hardwoods when the sun rises on a frosty November morning. Or listening for wild turkey before dawn during greenup in April in the same woods.
I like having all the kids asleep in the same warm room.

To triangulate into the void, one should first establish a base line.

My place of perfect Wa is the Golden Plane one can reside in for up to a few hours after a really, really good orgasm. Time passes unnoticed there and everything is beautiful and calm.

Once they perfect the driverless car system, going places should be nice.
Especially in a people carrier. You won't need seat belts, because the cars won't crash.
You can just sit round a table, and have a meal and get pissed, or play cards, or natter. You won't need to navigate, or worry about distracting the driver.

Already got one. It's called "Amtrak."\

I will never, ever set foot in an automobile that does not have an operable steering wheel, accelerator pedal and brake pedal.
