Vladimir Putin's war chiefs 'could go nuclear' defence bosses have warned

Defence Secretary Michael Fallon has warned that Russia was increasingly trigger happy about using its nuclear weapons.

Mr Fallon spoke out as Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande arrived in Moscow for crunch talks on the crisis in Ukraine.

The Defence Secretary said Britain must update its nuclear arsenal in response to Russia’s war-mongering.

Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, he said the Kremlin’s military planners may have “lowered the threshold” for the use of nuclear weapons.

His comments came as David Cameron was slammed for failing to be at the table for the talks between the German Chancellor, French President and Vladimir Putin.

(continued, Cameron probably on holiday in Portugal - priorities...)

This is the Daily Mirror. It supports the Labour Party.

Just as nearly all the others support the Tories, you have to look at why they are saying this.

An election is coming up, and Labour need to take votes off the Liberals and the Scottish Nationalists and the Greens. And they are all opposed to renewing and updating the Trident Nuclear Weapons. So the Mirror is stoking up the fear of a nuclear confrontation, just to try to gain votes for Labour.

That's why they are doing it, but it might also be a valid point as well.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.

Usually it's The Tories after a war dividend in these situations? Expecting a big picture of Putin with a fake tash on the cover of The Sun tomorrow? :read:

Could be. The Tories might take some votes from the Liberals over Trident, but they are very unlikely to get any off the Greens or Scottish Nationalists.

I think Labour has more to gain from fears over Putin.

Yeah, especially with Cameron preferring his hols over attending critical conferences. :read:

Defence Secretary Michael Fallon has warned that Russia was increasingly trigger happy about using its nuclear weapons.
My overriding feeling about this story is this ... how the fuck did Fallon end up as Defence Secretary?

So Britain's nuclear supply is down to only destroying the world a couple of times over? Yes, must be able to destroy the world at least 10 times over.

This whole thing is completely covered in bullshit.

The West maintains the farce that they had nothing to do with the completely illegal Ukraine coup.
And Russia pretends that they are not arming the rebels.

Each side knows that the other is lying. They are not fooling anyone, except the general public.
What I find amazing, is that the western press are one hundred percent on message, and totally biased in favour of the version that puts the Russians as the villains of the piece.
There is no independent reporting at all on the issue. The BBC is pathetic.

The west encouraged the Ukraine revolution, because they thought that it would be incredibly awkward for Putin to have no secure home for his Black Sea fleet. It's something they've been working at for years, but they just couldn't swing it legally in an election, so they fabricated a revolution.

Putin completely fucked up their plan by annexing the Crimea. So now they are spitting feathers.
They got their revolution, but have permanently lost the object of the exercise.
And now they are feeling completely stupid, but can't say anything without admitting what it was all for.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.
