These Men Had Already Carjacked Four Vehicles. Insane Video Shows What They Did When Police Road Spikes Brought Them to a Stop.

No, it’s not footage from the upcoming Mad Max reboot.

The video below shows real-life, pre-apocalyptic insanity in Australia.

Police have released helicopter video recorded during a massive Wednesday car chase that wound through Queensland and New South Wales as a pair of armed men conducted carjacking after carjacking, the Brisbane Courier-Mail reported.

After reaching speeds up to 100 miles per hour and carjacking a series of four different vehicles, the men were brought to a halt when they hit police road spikes.

But instead of surrendering, video shows the pair piling out — and opening fire on police.

The men then dash into traffic, running down the middle of the busy highway as they attempt to jack yet another car.

But the men both appear to be struck by the various cars they attempt to commandeer — video captures the moment one of them is mowed down.

The pair of carjackers, ages 32 and 20, were arrested, and the drivers involved escaped any serious injuries and no police were hit by the carjackers’ shots, New.com.au reported.

At least one of the carjackers had a “return to prison” warrant, the Courier-Mail reported.

It made the news here bigtime because it's so rare.

In the US, it would scarcely raise a mention... :tea:

I'm looking forward to seeing the video when I get back to good internet. It all happened in my neighborhood.

Well, somebody should have been.

I wonder if any of the cops chasing the dudes had guns?

All uniformed police in Oz carry guns.

Anyway, the varmints were arrested, and no one was killed in the process...

Why? There isn't any gun crime in Australia, there can't be, they confiscated all the bad guns and nobody in Oz ever uses a gun to commit a crime so there is no need for civilians to carry guns in case some criminal with a gun attacks them...oh, wait...never mind.
Anyway, the varmints were arrested, and no one was killed in the process...
Sheer unadulterated good fortune and nothing else. I doubt the people who had guns shoved in their faces were at all sure things were going to turn out that way.

If the police in Oz need to carry guns, so do the citizens of Oz, because like everywhere else, the police are never there when you need them the most.

Everybody down there who says anything different is a gross hypocrite.

Some criminals in Oz will obtain guns, of course, although they are much harder to obtain than in the US. Those criminal that do have guns may use them as threats during an armed hold-up of a business or bank, they are often used to eliminate rival criminals, or sometimes in shoot-outs with police.

Only very rarely will an unarmed civilian be shot by a criminal with a gun. So arming the populace is pointless, and would only lead to a surge in gun-related deaths.

Evidently not all that much harder.

Indeed.

I'm sure that your statistical apportioning of each individual's right to life and right to effective self-defense is of great comfort to the loved ones of the unarmed civilians who are killed or injured by criminals with guns because they did not likewise have guns with which to end the threat.

I'd be interested to see how strong your idealistic notions are if it's YOUR child or wife who is raped at gunpoint in front of you and then murdered.

It's really nice of you to dismiss the the rights of others to personal safety based on your paranoid fears of law-abiding citizens suddenly going berserk and killing people at random.

To the person who gets killed by a crook's bullet, it's not "rare" at all, it's a 100 percent certainty, and YOU are morally responsible for that person's death because you advocate prohibiting him or her from carrying effective means of self-defense because YOU fear he or she might misuse it.

How do you live with yourself?

If your ''logic'' says that one instance of gun violence by criminals is enough to justify everyone carrying guns, then the same ''logic'' says that one instance of murder or accidental death by a legally owned gun, justifies banning all legally owned guns.

I say that the second example is actually more logical, because no legal guns means that the supply of illegal guns will dry up.

Nope. The right to life and the right to effective self-defense is a one-way thing. The fact that someone else is killed by someone else with some other gun does not disparage my right to keep and bear my gun to use for my self-defense. You are merely making the bogus statistical apportionment argument again. But as I said, individual rights are not subject to statistical apportionment, they are complete in each individual. You can no more deny me my right to keep and bear arms for lawful reasons by arguing that other people have misused theirs than you can ban me from speaking freely because someone else has abused his right to free speech. You cannot deny me freedom to peaceably exercise my religious beliefs on the argument that someone else, somewhere else, did so in an unlawful manner.
I say that the second example is actually more logical, because no legal guns means that the supply of illegal guns will dry up.
And that stopped the nutters under examination from getting an illegal gun how, exactly?

Criminals who want weapons, be they guns or cricket bats, with which to murder or do bodily harm will get them, or in a pinch, manufacture them and there is absolutely no way government can stop them from doing so.

Your own crime analysis experts have said that the gun ban in Australia has had no effect on gun crime or the availability of illegal guns.

Your argument simply doesn't hold water.
