Plenty of people higher up the heap than I am, but there's a lot more on the lower slopes. I don't want to be at the very top, because that draws too much attention. Somewhere in the top quintile is fine. I'd like to be a bit further up than I am, because I want an airplane and I can't really afford one at the moment. Well, I could, but then I'd have to go do some of that "work" stuff, and not doing that is far more important than having an airplane. However, the fuzzy nature of these things means we need to think them through very carefully. The most basic principle involved in morality, principles, and human rights is caring for human beings. If a principle, human right, or moral idea does not result in caring for human beings, then it should be seriously reviewed.

That is one reason why the American fixation on gun freedom is wrong. It does not result in caring for humans. It does the opposite, and results in 100,000 Americans every year receiving a bullet through some part of their anatomy.
