Seems like a strange pick, not because of his colour, but because he usually plays pretty rough characters from the movies I've seen him in. Honestly, someone like Wesley Snipes would be better than him. Of course, I'll probably be proved wrong. He's a good actor regardless, so it could work.

Idris Elba is far from rough. Even as Stringer Bell he was as smooth as could be. He's incredibly hot, and oozes charisma, and he comes across as someone with brains and street smarts in many of his roles (when he's not playing a god) so I can just easily see him sliding into the part.

Also, Fassbender is German, raised in Ireland. Elba is from London. They both do accents well, but saying Fassbender has the accent makes no sense...
