Don Jon, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Scarlett Johansson and Julianne Moore. Funny. And a nice character study. Also unexpected was Tony Danza as the father. Danza is an actor I've always had a very low regard for, but I really liked his performance. I love being surprised by an actor I've never taken seriously before in a role they really nail.

I find it a fun action flick well worth the trip to the cinema. The assault on the compoundy thing was really seat of the pants stuff. I enjoy it a lot. The best of the series so far.

Another movie I just saw was The Edge of Tomorrow, with Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise. Yes, Tom Cruise is a wanker, but he does do good films from time to time. Usually they are the ones like this where he's flawed. Offbeat and funny and great action stuff. Well worth seeing.

Tom Cruise is one of those actors that I hate enjoying. He is such a complete knob but he is also a pretty accomplished actor. Edge of Tomorrow is pretty regular fare and he does a workmanlike job but he totally shines in Collateral, Magnolia, Rain Man, etc. He was even surprisingly good in Interview with the Vampire.

Watched Birth, by the same director who did Under the Skin. Got bad reviews but I liked it anyway. Fuck the critics.

Also just watched The Island, starring Scarlett Johansson and Ewan McGregor and directed by Michael Bay. I suppose I shouldn't have liked it because it was directed by Bay, but I don't care. I found it perfectly enjoyable.

No need for the spoiler. You could've just left it at that :hehe: She can really do no wrong. All she has to do is breathe onscreen and she takes your breath away. Funny thing is, I remember her as being kind of dorky in Ghost World. How did she get from being kinda doofy looking to being the most beautiful woman in the world? When exactly did that happen :ask:

yeah, he's like Russel Crowe. A complete tool, but a fucking brilliant actor.

But I disagree about Edge of Tomorrow being regular fare. He pulls the awkward soldier routine off brilliantly. And the

I meant that his acting was regular fare. He was hardly stretched (although he put in a creditable job). It was pulled off very well direction wise but didn't call for any kind of virtuoso performance from him.

And I know exactly what you mean about Russell Crowe!

Thirst (2009) - a Korean, vampire film by the director of Oldboy, based on Zola's Thérèse Raquin. Very enjoyable, if a touch overlong.

one of those kick ass ones don't have UFC bouts on them. Stockholm was the only place one could find them if one was looking for them. Which I most definitely never have. Kick ass sites are subject to laws meaning they have to remove links to copyright stuff under certain circumstances.

I've never come across anything I was looking for that I couldn't find in several places. Of course, I give all copyright laws the respect they deserve, so perhaps I was just never looking for anything illegal... :shifty:
