Obviously oil is a finite resource. At some stage, we will see peak oil. My skepticism is of those people who predict a specific date. Scientific American predicted it would be in 2013. Then we had the massive amounts of shale gas suddenly come available. Anyone else who tries to tell me that peak oil will happen soon, my response is : "yeah, yeah, yeah!"
