Leftfield Inventions Of The Future
Similar to the fictional bands threads in Music. Leftfield inventions of the future which you alone can envisage from the surprising to the amazing? and beyond into the farcical if you are really adventurous?

Everything has already been invented, the Patent Office is closing tomorrow.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Robotic insect size devices for cutting the lawn. You sprinkle them over the lawn and sit back as they chew through the grass with absolute precision. Very small robots, not quite grey goo but really tiny....they'll have a massive impact on society. And the multi-material very high resolution 3d printing fabrication room/wardrobe. More than one printer with different materials and little conveyor belts to 'fabrication machines' which will look really cool, allowing these robots to be made locally.

Furniture made of morphing smart materials.
Can be programmed for all sorts of relaxing and/or erotic activities.
You could play tricks like setting the armchair to 'Pierre Woodman' mode and then invite the vicar around for tea and cucumber sandwiches and let the afternoon's entertainment unfold.

You could have them making themselves. In fact, why not go the whole hog and just have little robot 'lawn mowing ants' living in their own nest/factory at their place of work?Scumple wrote:Robotic insect size devices for cutting the lawn. Indeed, maybe one could use an army of robot termites to build, run and maintain one's house.

Fuck, I'm stoned.

Leftfield is already invented, Dude.

A book is a version of the world. If you do not like it, ignore it; or offer your own version in return.

I've said it before, but it's still true.
The artificial womb will be the most revolutionary thing to hit mankind.
We think nothing now, of in-vitro fertilised babies. (Test-tube babies).
But before it was done, it was considered something like Frankenstein science.
Same with cloning.
I think they will start with artificial wombs for pedigree animals like racehorses and expensive dogs and cattle etc. Once that becomes common, they're bound to do it for humans.
They did a human womb transplant the other day, that resulted in a successful pregnancy. It's only a matter of time for an artificial womb to take a pregnancy all the way. It won't be long after that, before women getting pregnant will be a thing of the past.

While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.
