I hope that SSHDs don't go the same way as dual-layer dvds, and stay too expensive to bother with.

Every dvd reader/writer is now dual layer, but who is buying the blanks?
I have had one instance of wanting one, since they came out, and thought buying one in Tesco would be no problem. They had thousands of blank dvds, but not one dual layer one.

Looking online, they are at least five times the price of a single layer blank.
I ended up putting the program I was copying on an 8 gig sd card.

Dual layer must be a turkey commercially if Tesco don't stock them.

Not yet.
Otherwise the dvd recorders would be selling for fuck-all on ebay. But they still make good money second-hand. I know, because I'm after one.

Ummmm, I think Macdoc had DVDs in the context of data storage in conjunction with computers in mind rather than a medium for stuff you buy in order to watch on the idiot box.
