So, prepare the next centuries by working on the conquest of space or trying to educate millions of superstitious savages of whom only a minority will really assimilate it while the large majority will return to their bad practices as soon as they stop going to school? Given that before educating them, you have to see them fed if they are to even begin paying attention, and that means feeding the whole clan, if not the whole village...
