I believe that the highest number of head injuries due to sport or recreation is from cycling.
And the latest research seems to be that cyclists wearing helmets get MORE head injuries than those who don't.
Apparently, drivers give you more space, if you're not wearing a helmet.

I notice that the amateur boxers in the Commonwealth games have ditched the head guards. Statistics say that they actually increase incidences of concussion. ( although they do stop a lot of cuts ).
The women are still wearing the headguards.

Interesting, but I wouldn't count cycling commutes as "recreation", and commuting journeys would account for the vast majority of injuries suffered by cyclists, regardless of how much leeway drivers give them.

And in Aussie rules. However, we have strict rules about a player coming off the ground after a suspected concussion, and not playing for a length of time dependent on the degree of the injury. Also, head-high contact entails on-field penalties for the perpetrator, plus a very real possibility of suspension in the future; in boxing, it wins you the bout...

Also, the number of head impacts would be higher in boxing, typically, and it is the intent to make hard contact with the head, preferably via a knock-out blow...

With Aussie rules players, how would you tell if they were suffering from concussion?

Who the fuck are you to demand that everyone else live by your pathetic, wimpy and fugitive code of ethics, and who are you to tell other people what to do with their own bodies
It's called living in a democracy, every time you vote you try to oppose your will on others, its also called living in a society which allows most of us to survive

Equestrian sports are also very dangers, and generally an environment where women and men compete on equal terms.

Eventing, especially 3-Day events, is brutal on the animal. Not only the events and the trailering, but the typically professional training is hard and sharp to produce a competitive horse before it burns out, founders, or bows a tendon.

I don't watch boxing at all, male or female. But for those that do participate in both the sport and the watching, I have no problem with this as long as there is no coercion.

Did I really type dangers instead of dangerous there? How frightfully remiss of me.

And super heroes too. Don't forget horse jumping did for superman. What chance does a girlie girl have if superman gets smashed up by horse riding?
