Womens Boxing

What do you think of it?

I certainly don't want it to be banned, or anything like that, but I don't want to watch it.
It's not principles, or anything like that. I just want to switch it off, as soon as it starts.
Just an instant reaction.
Anybody else get the same gut reaction?

It should be banned like male boxing on the sound anti-libertarian principles that any 'sport' where the specific goal is to brain damage your opponent is not good for society

Any sport where people pound on each other is undignified and reprehensible.
It being girls makes it somehow even worse.

You could have matches with 1 boxer vs 1 cop... cops have no brains and can't get brain damaged anyway.

I'm beginning to think that maybe both you and Seth are part of a single sock puppet act by someone.

I saw In The Blood the other day. That badass chick held together an enormously contrived plot with serious editing flaws. I'll watch it again.

Has there ever been a society of any magnitude that did not support combat sports? Too many people want to do it.

Seriously though: I have little time for boxing regardless of who is involved, although I can just about tolerate the limited-round amateur format, such as in the Olympics. In the Olympics, This might have something to do with Ireland winning more medals in boxing than in all other sports Olympic combined.

I tend to agree with the OP: There are some sports that don't seem to be suited to women*, and boxing is one of them. I say that even though Katy Tayor's won a boxing gold in London 2012.

*And there are other where women should compete alongside men, and and in some cases already do.

Boxing? The application of sound, scientific principles to the gentle art of smashing a chaps face in. Character building. Even for fillies.

They already do international competitions in karate and taikwando, so why not boxing as well, I suppose.

But what about mud wrestling?

What would Baron de Coubertin think?

Actually, he'd probably be horrified at what the modern Olympics has morphed into, even without mud wrestling. :o
