Hyperbole much? Stormfront et al is more troubling, as they're also typically armed to the few remaining teeth they have.

Proposed cuts in the local Miami-Dade County budget that could lead to the firing of hundreds of law enforcement officers have led one police association spokesman to issue a stark warning to local citizens: Better buy some guns.

John Rivera, the president of the Miami-Dade Police Benevolent Association, bluntly told residents to “get yourself some firearms” after Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez announced his budget proposal for the upcoming year, a local Fox affiliate reported.

The proposal would lead to nearly 650 government job cuts in order to bridge a $64 million shortfall, and the mayor said police might feel the biggest pinch if its labor union doesn’t make concessions.

“If the mayor’s not going to provide security, then my recommendation, as an experienced law enforcement officer for nearly 40 years, is either buy yourself an attack dog, put bars on your windows and get yourself some firearms because you’re going to had to protect yourselves. We won’t be able to,” Mr. Rivera said.
Something doesn't quite add up. How much is Dade County paying their employees if their sacking leads to bridging the shortfall? Is the saving less than 10,000 dollars per person laid off? Stinks like a bit of scaremongering to me. No wonder, really. It's a report by a media outlet the mission of which, as expressed by James Gavin, special assistant to the owner, Bo Hi Pak is to fight communism and support "traditional values", and the source is someone who is a bit to the right of the teabaggers and happens to be the president of the Miami-Dade Police Benevolent Association. 'Nough said.

I knew that expensive Crime Scene Investigation department was gonna bite them in the ass one day. That, and all the Ferraris and Lambos their Vice squad wrecked in the 80s...

MSNBC Gets a Reality Check on Carrying of Firearms
MSNBC has posted an online poll [July 2, 2014] to find out where the majority of Americans stand on the carrying of firearms in public, and it seems that they’ve once again been “slapped” with a reality check.

The poll poses the question, “Do you think people should be allowed to carry guns in public?”

This isn’t the first time the liberal mainstream media has posted an online poll and had it backfire. CNN had a similar poll response just about one month ago.

What’s interesting about this particular poll though, is that MSNBC has a very “far left leaning” media bias. Logic would suggest that if they knew their viewers/readers as well as they should, the poll results would not be this extreme.

You can't, no matter what you do. It's not your job anyway.

We can only speculate about what might have occurred in this one-sided relationship given the infinitesimally improbable odds against Spring, Tx adopting common sense British gun rights curtailment. But the madman may well have acted similarly regardless of how many statistical inferences were posted here.

Someone should edit that Wiki page as well.

1. No presumption of innocence
2. Madmen, most especially mass shooters, should be denied notoriety.

You don't. They have to protect themselves. Any well-trained 14 year old is perfectly capable of using a gun for self defense or defense of the family. The key is training...and the availability of a gun.

The odds that that family would be almost wiped out by one nut with a gun are 100 percent.

The same odds (100 percent chance) apply to every single victim of violent crime being criminally victimized.

What the odds of any particular person being victimized on any particular day are not calculable because they can vary between zero and 100 percent.

Because it's not possible for any individual to calculate the odds of being criminally victimized on any particular day, it is necessary and rational for the law to presume that any person may be criminally victimized at any time, and therefore it is necessary for the law to respect each individual's absolute right to be armed with effective tools of self-defense whenever and wherever that individual deems it desirable or necessary to be so armed.

I know, it's like Riddick...
"Now, what are the odds of that?" 1. Silly Elemental, you can fking fly and disappear, but don't know that? :what:

Crime stats are legally irrelevant WRT the 2nd Amendment anyway.

I wish BG & Jonno could figure that out... :thinks:

It only looks logical when he puts it out that way. There are no odds. Other than the statistics for the general population, you can only assume that a red neck is somewhat more likely to shoot you than a college professor. If you fool with the professor's wife, he's going to come after you. :D
