I've been more than happy to let it go, but he just can't drop it. And he's clearly an idiot, as his last major post to my last major post shows. I don't know whether to pity him, or destroy him.

You could adopt a third course of action: Attack the validity of his argument rather than make frequent aspersions regarding his character. That goes for both of you. It's those incessant attacks on a poster's character that drive many members we wish would stay and contribute to the forum away.

There's no point. My last post showed clearly why he is wrong. Very clearly. Yet he continues to torture the English language and rape logic to prove that black is white. He's renowned for this sort of thing. I've clearly explained why he has been misrepresenting and lying, and there's nothing more I need to add. He'll never admit to it, so there's no point.

I really get sick of that line of reasoning. The number of threads where incessant attacks occurs is tiny. And in fact it's only even a blip on the radar because people have left and there aren't enough people to contribute new and interesting threads. Put simply, I won't have Sethy and me taking the blame for other people's lack of inspiration in creating interesting content. People need to take responsibility for their own choices, not blame other people.

They do take responsibility for their own choices, the choice being to disappear because they don't like the ambience of a forum where members keep insulting each other. Many of the members who have left were not even the targets of those insults. I for one would not want to keep drinking at a pub where there are so many fights even if I was never involved or in danger of being involved.

Yeah, except this is hyperbole, as I stated. The amount of threads where it's heated is tiny compared to the number of active threads. And, as I said, again, when you put the missing people back into the equation, the percentage of threads that are heated is even more infinitesimal. It's a crap argument and if people don't like a heated thread they should just ignore it and start and/or participate in another more interesting thread. It really is a lazy excuse for people wanting others to provide them with a suitable environment for them to hang out in. People need to contribute to the environment themselves. Now this isn't the case with you, but the most vocal critics lately of the environment here don't actually post here much any more, other than to just pop in and tell everyone how they don't like the environment. There's an easy answer to that - take responsibility for the environment of the place for yourself. Don't blame others.

Good points. I certainly played my part in the devolution of that discussion but you can see it start to go down the crapper after Rev started with the insults and accusations of misrepresentation/lying etc, and I let myself get dragged into it.

That being said, I must concur with the opinion that you tend to go off half-cocked at the slightest jar to your Wa and routinely descend to personal invective and evasive ad hominem when it appears that you are frustrated because your opponent refuses to accept your reasoning or logic, which to you seems infallible and invulnerable, but which unfortunately much of the time is anything but.

S'okay, we understand you're under a lot of stress right now, so we make allowances...or at least I do. If I treated you as you deserve, you'd be carping at yourself in a brazen, locked room.

But by and large we are all compassionate and tolerant people who are generally willing to put up with your tantrums so long as they don't get too far out of control. It's my observation that after a good red-faced screaming and heel-pounding tantrum you're almost rational for at least ten minutes consecutively.
