Since when did life expectancy measure the quality of a health service?Warren Dew wrote: And the UK is second last, thus proving my point that the ranking that includes "equitability" and puts the UK first is bogus.
Firstly, all of those figures are very close. And the extra years are from 80 onwards, which is not such a great huge bonus.
Secondly, the UK has virtually identical life expectancy as the US, but we pay about a third that Americans do for our health care. (from memory, I can't be bothered to check).
Thirdly, life expectancy is hugely influenced by lifestyle, and the British have one of the worst records for smoking, drinking and lack of exercise.
I'm amazed that we so close to the other countries on the list.
Drinking water is very good for you, and Americans drink huge amounts of water. In their "beer".
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.
Spoken like someone who's never had an Alaskan Amber or APA or a Mirror Pond or even a Sierra Nevada, much less a bigassed Cohoho winter IPA brewed with about a bushel of Centennial hops to a 55-gal drum of barley malt to yield about an 8.9% A.C. with a specific gravity somewhere around 10W30, if you like your beer heavy and your dates cheap.

I was in a bar in a lodge in King Salmon, Ak on a hot evening last summer. A bunch of sunburnt Germans came in, ordered cans of room-temperature Budweiser, and grimaced as they took the first small sips.
I sent one of my guys to get us 2 Spatens each, because the bar was starting to fill up and, you know, it takes a long time to draw a proper pils...
