If they admitted that the world was indeed heading in a dangerous direction due to global warming, then they would have to admit that only sustained, cooperative action with the world's governments working very hard together, and applying regulatory controls to the global market would have a chance to fix the problem.

No it isn't. It's just that you're too stupid to do so and you have no rational arguments you're capable of making. Show me why I should participate, why it is in my personal best interests and how the proposed participation will actually achieve some observable goal that's related to an actual, real problem in a way that doesn't either coerce me or require me to labor on behalf of others against my will or give up my property and capital to any greater extent than anyone else participating in the effort and I might choose to voluntarily participate.

Shutting down American coal power plants while the Chinese build new ones at four times the rate we shut ours down achieves absolutely nothing at all except to damage and destroy our economy and consolidate power and control in the office of the President, where it does not belong and does not lie under the Constitution.
