Society is to blame.

No really, it is.
You will always get people who are unhinged. Especially his age. They are a fact of life.
But if you saturate their environment with violent films, tv, and games, you naturally turn their unhinged tendencies towards armed violence.

And if you make guns easy to get, this is what happens.

So society really is to blame. Don't just blame the loony for being a loony. That's just part of it.

Rodgers owned three firearms, all legally obtained, and he was the perfect gentleman. The obvious way to prevent massacres is therefore obviously to have firearms in the hands of all perfect gentlemen. It's quite simple, really.

Nothing unusual in the angst of youth. I imagine there's millions of similar suspect Youtube rants out there.

I don't care if it's only "one bad hair day". If it's a day that gets innocents slaughtered, then there is no excuse.

But what a fucking psychopath. Option 1: see a pro and get laid; Option 2: murder heaps of innocent people.

His reasoning was flawed from both a logical as well as an emotional position. I have been a loner all my life and have never had the urge to take innocent life because of it. I just accept it and get on with it. I shall be celibate for the rest of it too and it bothers me not one jot either. I have no contact with human beings and have no family and am perfectly fine with that. Obviously I am not the same as him but I am just saying that his reason for doing what he did is not universal because if it was then I would have done the same also. I have no answers to the question of what to do. Nothing seems as good a one as any other because of the inevitability of such occurrences repeating themselves. And I am talking about the entire planet here not just one country. It may seem a terrible thing to say but if something cannot be prevented then is it actually practical to take so called preventable measures to prevent it from happening again ? How many angels can dance on the head of a pin ?

To be clear, there is no evidence that he was psychopathic in any formal sense or had any kind of mental disorder. Just attempting to cut off any wild attempts to blame this on mental illness because we don't want to deal with the fact that "normal" people can do messed up things.

Yeah, I meant it more in a colloquial (is that the right word?) sense. But it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he had a mental illness. Well, actually, it's an interesting discussion. Are murderers mentally ill? You could surely make an argument for that. Mental illness is always going to have a subjective part to it. Why is me trusting no one, and when I do trust someone I become an emotional nutjob, considered mentally ill, but someone who kills another person without a somewhat rational reason considered sane? Pragmatically, I expect that's because we wouldn't be able to punish anyone properly if we considered all gross anti-social crimes as mental illness. But it is still an interesting question, nonetheless. If only Metatron was here to edumecate us...
