Looking at the broad picture, though, one could only conclude either that on average African Americans don't strive as hard for success as white people do, or the tenor of the White Privilege Conference reflects reality: While the formal barriers of segregation have been just about completely dismantled in the USA by now, it does not follow that blacks do not have to deal with barriers that whites are not affected by. Not even American, but a white outsider presumes to lecture a black American woman on what her real status is, discounts and dismisses her experiences as if she is unable to assess them for herself or competent enough to form her own conclusions. And tells her, as if he has the authority, that she may not speak.

She is at least informed enough to know that in the US we have the First Amendment and she can exercise her rights under that to express herself without having to hide in her home.

I argued from facts that are available to everyone, even white, non-American males. Stacy Washington ignores them. Entirely.

If you were right, though, I wonder how many Americans would be qualified to express any opinion about, say, the Soviet Union. This forum's resident lolbertarian wingnut's frequent sermons concerning states of affairs beyond the boundaries of the USA should likewise be automatically written off as a load of shit on the grounds that he is not English, Japanese or whatever.
