Sad news about Freddie. Ashes won't be the same.

Speaking of England, what the hell happened to Simon Jones?
I know he was injured in the 2005 series but I never heard if he officially retired.
I did see him in the crowd so he's obviously still around.

I actually always liked him. He would have made a good Aussie!
You mean he drinks like an Aussie ?
That, and the fact that he doesn't seem to give a fuck about anything apart from playing cricket & having a good time...

England 126/0 at lunch on the first day at Lord's. :eddy:

It looked so good for a while but where was the middle order? Strauss is playing a true captain's innings though, and Broady can swing the bat a bit, so there is hope alive.

364/6 at close of play, Strauss still in, on 161. England scored at 4 an over all day, but haemorrhaged wickets in the second half of the day's play. :coffee:

Typical England. 3 quick wickets lost at the start of play today, but Anderson and Onions put on a last wicket stand of 49, so England finished with 425. Anderson was last man out with 29 from just 25 balls. :levi:

Great stuff.. nice tail wag. Who needs Freddie when we have Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy Anderson? Woo!

Good start by England with the ball

Commentators earlier were comparing it to 2005 Ashes in that the balance seems to change with every session and that does certainly seem to becoming the case, England were up when batting yesterday, then collapsed and were down and now are up again!

Always good to see that Whingeing Aussie Ponting get out, especially when it's a somewhat dubious decision by the umpires....
