Do you just turn up every six months and search for your username to see if anybody has mentioned you?

Strike "fiscal policy" and insert "monetary policy" in that, I believe. Scotland could still run a deficit or a surplus as they chose.
Yes, that would be better terminology, I suspect...

I should have done Economics 101 instead of all that science nonsense!
Economics is a science!

Not an exact science, mind.

Economics was in both the arts and science faculty in my old university. Strange that. It was the only tranny subject. I also majored in it, but I sucked at it in the senior levels so I focused on something less impressive like Engrish.

I have not thought about Red Celt from the time he disappeared until this thread was necromanced, and quite frankly, I prefer him to stay where he was in the past several months.

I was chatting to a former Rationalia person, and the name of another Rationalia person was mentioned. So I popped on to have a nosey, as the name didn't ring a bell. Then I saw this thread.

Thanks for the invitation to remain, but I prefer other ways of expressing myself. Places where I don't have to toe a certain line of thought, or face the consequences and the backlash of a gang-mentality. Y'know. Places where you can call a bigot a bigot and it isn't you who is somehow in the wrong, rather than the bigot for being bigoted. (cough)Rum(/cough)

How soon and how predictably nationalism turns nasty. The link is to pictures of newspapers describing physical attacks on some people opposed to independence.

My thoughts entirely.
Except that my thoughts also go further down that road.

I think that nationalism is a despicable instinct, that we have all inherited through having evolved from aggressive territorial apes.
Some of us recognise that, and some people wallow in it, like the apes we descended from.

The Scottish Nationalists appeal to this base instinct, and lie their heads off that it's nothing to do with it, at the same time. Of course, they are not the only ones, they have their English counterparts, the BNP and UKIP. Nice people. Not.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.

I agree entirely. I would apply my sentiments as described above to all forms of nationalism.
