Just rewatched Spaceballs while nicely toasted. Laughed till I peed a bit.

Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

 I guess it's time to watch that again. It's been years. Won't be able to do so nicely toasted, tho. :sigh:

Just saw Snowpiercer. I enjoyed it well enough.

Captain America 2. I was much better than I expected. The story actually had some depth to it. Seriously, shit got real, yo. And things were kept lively by Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L Jackson in their respective prominent roles as The Black Widow and Nick Fury.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

I thought the new Captain America film was good, but at the same time as I was watching it a realisation dawned on me about half-way through as I found myself unriveted by an action scene - I think I'm sick of super-hero movies! :ddpan:

I did think it was very good but don't get me wrong, I didn't think it was the goddamn holy grail like some reviewers were saying. I mean there was talk that it was better than The Avengers. I'm not so sure about that.

Lol! It's not better than The Avengers. That's a class of its own. I think it's the best superhero movie ever made (Dark Knight fans can bite me).

Erik the Viking. Savaged by the critics but that's because the critics are gay. I thought this was very funny. But also very smeet. Kind of reminded me of Jabberwocky in that way, with Michael Palin chasing Griselda around with his potato in that one. This one wasn't as funny as Jabberwocky or most of the other Python or Python-related films but I liked it anyway. Felt like an early Gilliam film only not quite as insane or brilliant. Yet still this was very enjoyable, I felt. And I would like to reiterate that critics are gay.

I just saw "Sabotage" with The Arnold. Pretty damned good movie, as action movies go. He's getting some character in his face now...at 66...and he's still got muscles.

I saw a poster for this at the theater but didn't realize it was playing right now. Looked up some reviews and saw that a lot of critics were complaining it was too gory. So of course I had to go see it. Liked it a lot! Great to see Arnold in a more serious role. As for the critics who didn't like it, I can only assume they are gay.

I was quite surprised myself. His performance was very believable and human, unlike most of his mechanical work (pun intended) and although I usually dislike "bad cop" movies on the principle that there are enough bad guys out there that we don't really need to erode the opinion of the police in the eyes of the public any more, both the plot and the action were authentic, honest and well acted. Plus, they squished an "innocent" bicyclist, which is always a good thing in a movie, because there is no such thing!
Trigger Warning!!!1! :
I came right to the edge of destroying my willing suspension of disbelief at the very end, in the Mexican cantina, where there was entirely too much lead flying for him not to have bit the big one in reality. Why is it that writers insist on filling the air with bullets fired by completely incompetent Mexican (or other ethnic) bad guys who are supposed to be professional bodyguards. That's not remotely how it is in real life.

Watched Valkyrie. Not state of the art, a crap movie. How come they didn't have a narrator to give it some umphh? It was very cardboard in the character dept. The table looked IKEA and over modern for a WW2 movie. The flags too synthetic for the times. Not sure he wanted to open all the concentration camps like the words put in his mouth. Good thing I had a few bears in or I'd have switched it off and missed the merciful release for the jerk at the end.

What were you doing messing with bears? Only they can be dangerous creatures - especially if you don't let them win at Scrabble. :tea:
