Anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church leader Fred Phelps dies

The former leader of a US church that was widely known for its inflammatory anti-gay protests has died, his family has said.

The Reverend Fred Phelps Sr, founder of the Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas, died on Wednesday evening at 84.

The church, made up mostly of his family, rose to international notoriety with its practice of picketing funerals of fallen US troops.

It claimed their deaths were punishment for America's tolerance of gays.

I wouldn't agree with that.
People mould Christianity into any shape they want. He just took it to his own preference, but it's far from being it's ultimate reality.
Anybody can take a few phrases from the Bible and concentrate on those, to the exclusion of everything else.
If you took the ''love thy neighbour'' bits, and ignored the anti-gay bits, you would get a totally different interpretation.

It's quite funny, the passage in the babble that says that gays won't get to heaven, also says that ''revilers'' won't make it either.

Since Fred Phelps and his chums are the world's greatest revilers, they are clearly going to end up in hell, with all the gays. (although the bible doesn't mention lezzers, so maybe they will be ok)
