I strongly disagree. To me, one of the real strengths and fascinations of Rationalia is how threads twist, turn and metamorphose like living things...

Discriminating against minorities is pretty easy to objectively define. And anyone with a brain agrees that it is bad. Discouraging speech which promotes what is objectively bad is a good thing, in my book. Not sure what Nazi's have to do with anything.

It makes a clear statement that it is socially unacceptable to be an anti-social fuckwit.

So there is an objective truth now and you know it, worse than that you know how it should be implemented. Have you noticed that when people with the same thought process as you gain power the rest of the world sees mountains of dead bodies.

If the title, Progressive Racism: The hidden motive, and three mentions of progressive(s) in the first two sentences won't convince you that the article is a must-read, nothing will. Not even the summaries for each of the eight separate entries. Conveniently colour-coded, they go like this:

GUN CONTROL
White urban liberals are deathly afraid of black gangbangers with guns, but are ashamed to admit this publicly, so to mask their racist fears they try to ban guns for everyone, as a way of warding off the perception that their real goal is to target blacks specifically.

JUNK FOOD TAXES
Progressives believe that black people are too dumb to make healthy food choices.

CLIMATE CHANGE
The civilizational “white guilt” motivating the voluntary wealth transfer to undeveloped nations derives from deep racist assumptions about the innate shortcomings of backward peoples.

The desire to preserve “racial purity” and to prevent over-breeding of the “lower” races and classes was the overt and publicly pronounced goal of the pro-abortion progressive eugenics campaign in the early 20th century; only after eugenics fell from public favor did the leftists devise deceptive new narratives to justify abortion. White progressives still believe that blacks cannot control their sexuality and are too irresponsible to use birth control reliably, so the only way to keep them from overpopulating is to keep abortion legal and cheap or free.

NANNY STATISM
White progressives think blacks need constant monitoring and micromanagement to prevent them from misbehaving; but to avoid the perception that they are racists, progressives devise rules which restrict everyone’s freedom, even though the real goal is to control blacks.

I read one of the arguments which suggested that offering welfare to people who need it is really governed by a need to create a state of dependency in the person receiving the welfare and preventing them from ever living a successful independent life.

I'm assuming it's a piece of satire (right? I'm right aren't I? Please tell me it's satire).

I agree with this comment in so far as other commentators should be able to articulate what they got from the linked piece. Links should be for scientific facts, evidence and studies to back up their claims. So lets get back to basics, your rant at anti-immigration person. Has it occurred to you that the people who suffer most in any said country from immigration are the poor, least educated, least able to cope with increased competition. It is all very well for the elite to have a bigger job seeking resource that will keep labour cost down and the immigrates in question are not going to be living in the areas they occupy. Are you so willing to dismiss their concerns and not accept that there might be some justification in their airing of grievances.

Australia is different from the US and wherever you are from. There's large parts of the country that are a cunt to live in and difficult to get to. If asylum seekers are willing to work in these places (which they are) and Aussies aren't for whatever reason, then I don't see a problem.

Look at it this way - The problem isn't with refo's taking the jobs of our poor, it's about the 4th richest country in the world being too selfish to share the wealth with those who need a hand (whether that is refugees or our own poor). It's not the refugees fault. It's the fault of neoliberal elite who want to see as much of the wealth flowing up the chain to them.

Although, interestingly, we've just seen the PM in the last day or so re-open a loophole in what's called the "457 visa" (skilled migrant visas), which will allow almost unchecked recruitment of foreign workers for australian jobs. All this while our unemployment is at a 10+ year high (albeit still low by world standards).
