I rarely post about ratskep these days. But don't let facts get in the way of a cool story, bro. The reason I have gone on about it in the past is that I love a train wreck (as it seems is pretty much human nature, unfortunately). I won't deny that if they had me back, I would go back (and likely get suspended repeatedly again). But I have zero expectation that they would, and I have never asked to be let back on there. I was rightly banned.

edit: just to add, regarding the sock puppet thing, the only reason I create a posting sock puppet is to troll the likes of Cito duh Pense and others. I have very little desire to attempt serious discussion there for the reasons I give below.

My view is that you can't actually have a serious discussion site without a strong social and off-topic irreverent section of the likes of ratz. You need to be able to separate out the actual honest debators from the piss takers. If you have no mechanism for that, then you get the piss-takers infecting the serious threads. And that's what happens at ratskep. So many serious threads are wrecked by nongs, and the only threads that really draw serious traffic are those "yes it is! No it isn't!" topics. That's why when I created that forum of mine, I basically incorporated both a serious section and a totally irreverent section. If you have a loosely moderated irreverent section, people can makes jokes about the likes of Jamest, you and others without it interrupting your attempts at engaging in honest intellectual debate. As it is at ratskep, there is no outlet for that, so it riddles the serious threads. Essentially you need something to keep the CdP's, KennyC's and Scot Dutchy's out of the philosophy (and science, in the case of CdP) forums.

how it should be since not everyone wants to discuss those topics ad infinitum anyway. There are enough seriously educated individuals on there to keep the less educated on their toes and apply corrections where necessary. And so I do not agree now that heavy threads are wrecked by those who have no idea what they are actually talking about as that is clearly not the case. Incidentally Cito is one of the most capable members there. I put him in the top five along side Cali and hack
