Watching it now. Could not make it through Canned Ham's initial 30-minute presentation. He was just too fucking stupid and too annoying.

I think you're thinking of Kent Hovind, the tax dodger.

That Ken Ham looks bearded from some camera angles, and clean-shaven from other angles. It's kinda freakin' me out...

Finished watching it. I found it frustrating. Canned Ham spouted quite a lot of bullshit but the debate's format didn't really allow Nye to properly address it all and explain why it was bullshit. Also, despite being a bullshit machine, Ham's delivery was a lot smoother. Nye came off to me as a little awkward. His jokes, for instance, weren't funny. I would rather have seen Dawkins or Hitchens eviscerate this imbecile. Unfortunately Dawkins refuses to engage with cretins like Ham, and of course Hitchens is dead.

Right. Too many creationists with K.H. initials.

Invariably, creationists finish up arguing that what is written in the Bible is true because it says so in the Bible, while engaging in pathetic attempts to discredit the vast amount of knowledge that science has produced in the past 200 or so years. I cannot be bothered to listen to over two hours of debate concerning the scientific authority of a motley collection of writings by a bunch of superstitious, ignorant, bronze-age goat herders.

If someone wants to believe that a God has created everything there is in six consecutive 24 hour periods, just as the Bible says, which, I suppose includes the creation of the first female of the human species by ripping out a rib from the the first male, let him, but don't expect me to listen to him at length.

Answers in Genesis? For fucks sake, Answers in Genesis? The notion is no less ridiculous than the nonsense Hubbard, Smith, Icke et. al have come up with. By deciding to debate the head of Answers in Genesis Nye has dignified creationists with attention they do not deserve. In that regard I side with Richard Dawkins.
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein’s brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops. - Stephen J. Gould

"You scientists can't know because you weren't there, however I can know even though I wasn't there either, because it's written in the Bible, even though I wasn't there when the Bible was written." Wtf.

That said, I do wish that science educators would stress more the tentative nature of what they teach. Not that that means mere belief is ever a serious challenge to empirical data, of course.

Tat, awkward and bow tie is fine. Sounds more academic, less Hollywood.
