Haddin and Lyon still pushing on, now 9/193. Would be quite relieved to end up only being 50 behind...

Finally all out for 204, so not as big a deficit as I feared.
Haddin to the rescue yet again, with a very solid 65...
But all credit to the English bowlers...

Looks like Cook's decided to make a few runs. A nice solid 50 without loss to start England's second innings and Carbury's only chipped in 5 of those!

A decent first session from our POV. The good batting start makes up for letting you boys catch up a bit.

Well, an inexplicable half hour of amateurishness hands the reins back to Oz. A superhuman run-out throw from the Mitchell Johnson chap and what amounted to catching practice from Bell's first ball. WTF!?!?!?
Pietersen and Stokes trying to steady the ship. This match is on a knife-edge when it was looking comfortable an hour ago. Gotta love the game. As the Chinese curse says, "May you play in interesting tests!"

Re: The Cricket Thread: Second Innings
The wind's causing all kinds of rumpus down there! Pietersen was nearly given out trod-on-stumps but the replay shows the wind took his bails!
Going to be a fun few overs for the Aussie openers once the inevitable happens. 225 the lead - another 25-30 is going to make the target very tricky. Things are poised...

Pieterson out - Nathan Lyon took a 5 wicket haul...
Now 9/179
And the wind has been crazy, both at the MCG at here at home - was a hot northerly, now a strong south-westerly cool change, rough but very welcome after a 38 degree day...

Update - all out for 179, for a lead of 230.
A doable chase, but our batting is definitely wonky...

All out for 179. A lead of 230. Going to be a close one. 2 or 3 quick wickets before close and the pendulum is well and truly swinging England's way again. The lead cut to under 200 without loss and it's swung the other.

Very true - I'll not be surprised to see the pendulum swing back and forward several times.Xamonas Chegwé wrote:All out for 179. A lead of 230. Plenty of time, of course, but sometimes, if players think that, and lose their natural game, they can falter. It will be interesting to see whether Warner can adopt a more measured approach...
