Dr. Who?
A new one tonight on the Beeb. The plot and inconsistency of internal world 'rules' was worse than usual and the episode pretty poor to my mind compared to some of them of late.
A brand new Doctor though!

Re: Dr. Who?
Yeah I wasn't that fussed on it, but I've felt like that about the last few seasons.
Re: Dr. Who?
i'm about halfway through this pile of shite and, according to the script, so long as the doctor does not reveal his name, peace reigns in the town of christmas. so how come he has to keep fighting off intruders? that ain't peace. i hope peter capaldi turns up soon because this current iteration is a manic pain in the arse.
i'm not a fan of who since feeling profound contempt when first setting eyes on the daleks. how can you feel fear for something a rock in the road will cause to stumble. i think my favourite cartoons on the point are the dalek attempting to mount a dustbin and another at the bottom of some steps.
i'll go and be bored silly through the rest of this grim grot.

To be fair to the Daleks, they always stuck to high-tech environments with smooth floors like the inside of spaceships or large buildings. They could always take a lift...jaydot wrote:i'm about halfway through this pile of shite and, according to the script, so long as the doctor does not reveal his name, peace reigns in the town of christmas. so how come he has to keep fighting off intruders? that ain't peace. i hope peter capaldi turns up soon because this current iteration is a manic pain in the arse.

At least the Dalek-stairs problem has been the source of many jokes.JimC wrote:To be fair to the Daleks, they always stuck to high-tech environments with smooth floors like the inside of spaceships or large buildings. Re: Dr. Who?
It was meaningless drivel and appeared to the right of most religious gibberish for me. Had to turn the sound down half way through because the fuckwittery dialogue was plain annoying. Much better with the sound down. My wife remarked how the transubstantiation of the Doctor at the end was more muted than usual. Probably ran out of money for the special effects?

Re: Dr. Who?
Anyone else spot the similarity between the "death" of Matt Smith's Doctoor and the death of Samson?
A book is a version of the world. If you do not like it, ignore it; or offer your own version in return.

Could be planning a more religious theme for the next guy - who'll be the last it appears - to flog the series to the yanks or dump it if it doesn't fly there?Xamonas Chegwé wrote:Anyone else spot the similarity between the "death" of Matt Smith's Doctoor and the death of Samson?

Like the yanks need special peddling... I know some who love it BECAUSE it's a British series, and different from the US crap.

Still niche at present though, may be big on BBC America and the Sci-Fi Channel.Svartalf wrote:Like the yanks need special peddling... I know some who love it BECAUSE it's a British series, and different from the US crap.

Re: Dr. Who?
But pushing the religious side to push it to mainstream (or religious right) Merkins would just destroy the series and alienate its normal public... plus it would still look pagan to hardline chretins
