Anyway, I have no issue in supposing they may actually be the bones of the historical Peter, or at least a Church dignitary from that era.jaydot wrote:they will not be subjected to carbon dating. rc already has form with turin shroud.

Odds are Simon Peter never even set foot in Italy... plus even if he had, I doubt anybody would have dared remove his body from the cross, Nero was a lot less sympathetic than Pilatus.

Oddly enough, the RC hierarchy tends to keep its distance from that sort of woo.JimC wrote:Anyway, I have no issue in supposing they may actually be the bones of the historical Peter, or at least a Church dignitary from that era.jaydot wrote:they will not be subjected to carbon dating. rc already has form with turin shroud.

Which is odd, given what gets spouted at most Sunday masses.

Vatican reveals St Peter was only eight inches tall
THE Vatican has unveiled the tiny coffin of St Peter for the first time.
The casket, just nine inches long, holds the very small body of Jesus’s right hand man and first Pontiff of the Catholic Church.
Pope Francis prayed before the coffin yesterday in Rome and called on religions around the world to be nicer to people who are less than one foot high.
He said: “Jesus called St Peter his ‘rock’. Looking at this tiny coffin, that now seems odd. But who am I to decide who is and is not tall enough to be a Pope?”
Worshipper Emma Bradford said: “I am glad to discover that St Peter was just eight inches high. It makes the whole thing more believable.”

Most people in those days were less than six inches tall, so Peter was actually a bit of a giant for the time.
How do you think Jesus pulled off the miracle of feeding the 5,000 ?
A few loaves and fishes was plenty for them.
And Jesus was crucified on two lolly sticks, sellotaped together. It's true, it is.
